Your LinkedIn Banner Can Make You Unforgettable in 3 Seconds. But it makes many disappear into the black hole A LinkedIn banner is not a "nice-to-have." It's your visual elevator pitch—a tool to build instant trust, stand out, and drive real business results. 4 Reasons Your Banner Helps Your Business: 1. It’s your first impression. - Don’t: Use blurry stock images or irrelevant visuals. - Do: Use high-quality images with clear messaging on your unique value. 2. It reflects your personal brand. - Don’t: Overload it with logos, slogans, or cluttered designs. - Do: Highlight your USP and UVP. 3. It boosts engagement. - Don’t: Use a corporate banner that screams, “I’m just another employee.” - Do: Create a personalized design with social proof and keywords 4. It differentiates you from the crowd. - Don’t: Forget that LinkedIn is about PEOPLE - Do: Design banners that feel authentic, knowledgeable and approachable Advice for Corporate Marketing Teams: ✔️ Create multiple banner templates for employees to personalize—showcasing their expertise, not just the company logo. ✔️ Create personalized banners to amplify thought leaders in your organization. Position them as go-to experts in their field. ✔️ Celebrate individuality within your team to showcase creativity and innovation. Don't see your banner as a static image. It’s a conversion tool. Treat it as such. So tell me, is your LinkedIn banner working FOR you or AGAINST you? When was the last time you changed your banner? Richard, speaking of banners, you could increase your font sizes a bit to make it more readable on mobile or tablets. I'm sure it looks great on PC but I'm not sure how else to say it... I can't read shit in that tiny skinny font. And I have the largest phone on the market and 25/20 vision. So, back to your list: 5. Make sure it's readable.
This post is timely. Felt moved in my spirit yesterday to create a new banner for my LinkedIn. It’s not the best, I know but I’m moving in a positive direction. And that’s something.
I know that banners are important but clearly mine needs an update 😅
Never received any feedback on my banner, but am considering changing it - not sure my audience gets it
BOOM!! Great advice as usual, but you miss one vital point I think Richard over 70% of people view LinkedIn on their mobile phone so this means that the text on your banner has to be legible for short-sighted people like me who forget their spectacles 😂 The banner, on my phone is just 1.5cm X 6.5mm
simplicity wins every time. I remember my first banner... it was an absolute fkn riot. an assault on the eyes 😂
A LinkedIn banner is way more important than most people think. It’s your chance to stand out and give that first impression. I updated mine recently to reflect what I actually do, and it made a difference for sure 🙌🏼
