🎞️Inside Out 2 🎞️ https://lnkd.in/esA_6fRi A fantastic film to educate children (and adults!) about emotions and mental health, Inside Out 2 is currently in cinemas and is a sequel to the 2015 film Inside Out which cleverly covers emotions Joy, Anger, Disgust, Fear and Sadness as they navigate the mind of a young girl named Riley. The sequel introduces 5 additional emotions as Riley becomes a teenager, Anxiety, Envy, Boredom and Embarrassment, with Anxiety taking the driving seat and making all of Riley's decisions for her. The detailing of anxiety is cleverly demonstrated in the film with beliefs, projections, black and white thinking, negative thoughts and even a panic attack mirrored on screen to give an understanding of what anxiety feels like. If you would like to educate your child further on Mental Health, we deliver Mini Medics Mental Health which allows children to learn about mental health in a simplified, non-heavy, educational and fun way. Navigating the Emotional Maze: Lessons from "Inside Out 2" - insight from clinical psychologist I finally squeezed sometime last Saturday to watch this movie, I regard it as Emotion 101 for all people! In a capitalist society where productivity is regarded as the most successful outcome, anxiety is indeed a developmentally appropriate and functional emotion that helps us predict the world. In the vibrant movie "Inside Out 2," we explore how the dance of emotions shapes us. As teenagers transition into adulthood, they develop with the complexities of executive function, often driven by the powerful emotion of anxiety to help planning the future and prevent bad outcomes. This anxiety, while it sometimes can be paralysing. Basic emotions like disgust, joy, sadness, and anger can get in the way of our imagined success. Immediate gratification often clashes with our long-term goals. Anger can sever relationships, excessive fear and disgust can stifle our sense of adventure, and sadness can immobilize us. We learnt to suppress these emotions when growing up. Yet, suppressing these emotions is not the answer. Joy, when muted, make life lack of its colors; suppressed anger prevents us from knowing our boundaries; fear and disgust protect us from immediate danger; and without sadness, we can lose sight of what truly matters. "Inside Out 2" beautifully illustrates how teenagers begin to harness emotions that illuminate the path to the future. Envy reveals what we desire but lack; anxiety warns us of potential pitfalls; embarrassment guides us toward social acceptance. These emotions, while challenging, equally foster the social connectedness essential for thriving as human beings. In particular, anxiety drives us to improve and strive for more. Yet, it can lead us into cycles of catastrophic thinking or fight/flight responses, even manifesting as panic attacks. The endless pursuit of perfection (if in fighting mode), fueled by anxiety, reminds us that life is a series of gaps to bridge. It is truly an art form to embrace and live with our anxiety. My favorite moments in the movie remind us of the joy found in simply being present in the game of life. True satisfaction lies in savoring each moment, embracing the complex symphony of emotions that make us who we are. #InsideOut2 #EmotionalIntelligence #mentalhealth #EmbraceEmotions #MindfulLiving #MovieInsights

**A post with a reference to suicide** “… even when things seem like they’re at their worst, something good can grow…..whilst I may never entirely conquer my mental health issues, they can be a catalyst for something positive”. The words of Martin Doherty, member of Scottish group Chvrches. I wholeheartedly agree. We can turn our most mentally challenging moments into a force for good. Sometime after two suicide attempts, I created a sort of social enterprise called Sixty Six / Ninety Nine (the name is a whole other story). I worked with organisations on projects that included producing films on male suicide awareness and prevention, participatory arts initiatives, while also organising an online arts festival. Lived / living experience gives those of us who know what it’s like to have mental ill-health an advantage, a direct insight, to provide informed views and practices. It’s valuable currency that we could still be making more use of. One of my favourite Chvrches songs is called ‘How Not To Drown’, which was mainly written from a position of depression and isolation. It’s personal and authentic. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #livedexperience #livingexperience

Each generation is becoming increasingly isolated, and the statistics are pouring in on the diminishing number of friends each new generation has and the negative mental health challenges that come with this phenomenon. My take is the later, and as someone with an agency in the product design space, I would have serious aprehentions taking a project like this on. The product question I have is: Does this product solve or exacerbate this unsettling trend? #productdesign #brandstrategy #product #brand #agency #digitaltransformation

Listen to today's podcast... We are becoming more self-centered and Narcissistic. “Selfie” was Oxford dictionary’s Word of the Year in 2013. Since then, it’s become a serious preoccupation. The cultural phenomenon of the ‘selfie’ exposes a very basic human desire — to feel noticed, appreciated and recognized. Our addiction to selfies has turned deadly and selfie-related incidents now top shark attacks when it comes to unusual ways to die! One study in the U.K. revealed that women between the ages of 16 and 25 spent an average of five hours a week taking selfies. Research shows that selfies can make us feel lousy about ourselves to the point where we photoshop and filter our selfies in an effort to be picture perfect. How many pictures have you looked at and wonder why the person adjusted the picture so much that it no longer looks like the real thing? However, it is hard not to love the ego boost from sharing a selfie because of the positive comments we usually get. Take One Action Today To Build Your #Resiliency! Tips For Building Resiliency and Celebrating No Selfies Day: To celebrate today is easy – all you have to do is NOT participate in taking selfies! Be in the moment, rather than trying to capture and edit it. Finally, be careful that you are not falsely praising and reinforcing selfies that are over-processed. How do we forgive something that’s unforgivable? The concept of forgiveness, even in seemingly unforgivable situations, is emphasized, drawing upon scriptural teachings that advocate for endless forgiveness. Through biblical references and personal experiences, Fr. Columba Jordan CFR offers a step-by-step approach to forgiveness, emphasizing the importance of processing negative emotions and surrendering hurts to achieve healing and emotional freedom. https://lnkd.in/g8n_fJRS

The Mental Health Foundation is INSANE It would appear the Mental Health Foundation is becoming clinically insane not knowing what a women is, going against parents wishes and supporting the transitioning of mentally ill children. How more insane could that be. So I just sent them the following questions; I'm currently looking into how our 'health system' is treating our gender dysphoric children. While doing so I have found a few issues that I'm hoping you can clarify for me. 1) What is a women? Now this may seem a strange question however there seems to be some confusion as to what a women is in 2024. And how can we discuss 'gender' or any other topic if there is confusion about key stone words such as 'man' and 'women'. 2) Given we know 80% of gender dysphoric children will work out there gay, lesbian, bisexual or straight, if left alone until after puberty, why does the Mental Health Foundation support puberty blockers use for children? 3) Given the recent WPATH leaks where they admit these children are not capable of make life changing decisions does the Mental Health Foundation still support the WPATH and PATHA guidelines? 4) My understanding is the vast majority of parents don't want RSE taught in schools therefore why is the Mental Health Foundation against the majority of parents wishes? 5) And in a recent interview Shaun Robinson said 'if not Pakeha' in relation to people needing help/assistance. Does this mean Pakeha have 'white privilege' and therefore don't need help/assistance? Don't think the Mental Health Foundation will answer any of them, but its fun to ask anyway.
