Many CPG food brands overlook this at festivals. Not activities, social, contests, or sign-ups. Selling their product. Ninety-nine out of a hundred times, CPG brands just give it away. You'd be surprised how many people want to buy a full size sample. It's as easy as putting up a price list. When the festival has 10,000+ attendees, this offsets the cost considerably. Had some time to collect my thoughts about Fancy Food the last couple of days….. Show was an overall huge success for our brands and team I felt. A lot of international brands and areas compared to years past. Brands: a lot of emerging brands showcasing their products. I felt like there wasn’t a lot of big name brands like years past. Beverage world: bless you all fighting for space, didn’t see a lot of beverage category buyers there. (Maybe it was just me) Next week is a holiday week remember that when reaching out and following up with retailers. They have 100s of brands reaching out too. If they told you they were interested in your brand and wanted for learn more does not mean it was a yes and you’re coming in next week. Manage expectations… Retailer/buyers: you go to the show to look for new brands and I get if you work for a big name retailer everyone stops you. That’s part of your job and also representing your company. Don’t be annoyed when a brand stops you to talk. Suggestion write on your badge what category you manage to prevent that. Brands are there to have engaging conversations with retailers; first impressions on both ends matter. Simple one here: just respond, even if it’s a no. Feedback is always greatly appreciated so everyone can grow and learn. Overall it was a great show and now the fun begins with follow-ups.
