Hi, hello LinkedIn 👀 We're This Chord, a monthly social club for music lovers. A bit like a book club but for music. With an increase in the desire for third spaces, This Chord was born as a cosy haven for music enthusiasts seeking genuine, offline conversations away from the noise of online chatter, where passionate 'Stans' often dominate. Here, people can freely express their thoughts without worrying about judgment. Since our first This Chord event, we have increased our ticket sales from 60 to 150 in the space of five months. Mothers, lovers and friends have come through our doors to share their love for music. Looking forward, our aim is to continue curating safe spaces for music lovers and create opportunities for artists and fans to come together in intimate settings. If you're a brand that would like to get involved in the This Chord Club experience or a label that would like us to curate a direct-to-fan experience as part of an artist's campaign roll-out, please email thischordclub@sixtysixagency.com #musicsocialclub #socialclubs #thirdspaces #musicindustry

Over the last few months I have had the pleasure of working with the global DIY music festival - Make Music Day UK! 🎶 With their music festival date fast approaching, they came to me because they hadn't been very active on their pages for a little while and were looking to re-engage their community and bring their pages back to life! 🙌 I developed a strategy to form a community that welcomed musicians with a love for a wide range of instruments and genres. The aim of the content strategy was to inspire and encourage anyone, with any music ability, to get involved and celebrate their love for music together! 🎶 Fast forward 2 months into working together, and their results now look like this: 🎯 Facebook reach increased by +757% 🎯 X (Twitter) impressions increased by +3,654% 🎯 Instagram reach increased by +64,100% Ready to take your social media presence to the next level? It's easy to do your part and support your local #musicscene: 1️⃣ Buy their merch and utilize @bandcamp Fridays. Bandcamp Fridays are an opportunity for your dollar to do the most work for your favourite artists. Every cent spent on the site, including buying merch and albums, goes back into their deserving pockets. No cuts - it all supports the art. 2️⃣ Go see a live show when you can. The reality for most musicians and performers is that live shows are where you see the most return on your investment. What we are hearing more and more from artists is "the post pandemic glow up, is over". We need audience members to encourage venues to continue to support live music - your attendance at shows matters. 3️⃣ Tell a friend 🧡 This could be your granny who might love a new song that was just released. Maybe tell your bestie about that wicked new local opener that played at your fav music venue last weekend. Word of mouth equals organic growth for artists - and it's all surprisingly more effective than you think! And it's free! #livemusic #supportlocalmusicians #musictech #supportmusicians

New Post: The 100 Greatest Songs About the Music Industry: Staff List - https://lnkd.in/g_Uehi-b - Is it as universal a song subject as love, as timeless as dancing or partying, as relatable as heartbreak or misery or anger? Not quite — but for the actual recording artists behind the songs, it’s the one topic that they’re pretty much guaranteed to have a surfeit of experience in, the one that they can be trusted as an authority on to at least some degree: the music industry itself. For as long as the music industry has existed, artists have been writing, recording and performing songs about the business that birthed them. Some of them are explicitly biographical, some of them written more in abstract. Some of them offer direct commentary, some of them just present the facts (as the artist sees them) and lets the listener come to their own conclusions. Some of them are highly critical and pissed off about the state of things, some of them… well, we wouldn’t say we can name a ton of songs that are all about how swell things currently are in the music biz — at least that aren’t being bitterly sarcastic about it — but there are some that are less explicitly fire-and-brimstone, anyway. And as a staff of writers and editors who spend our lives covering all the happenings of the music industry, we have to admit that these songs hold a somewhat special place in our hearts (particularly the ones that mention Billboard by name, natch). We might not share the exact experiences of the artists themselves — sometimes we may even come from the exact other side of their experience — but we’ve seen enough of the business to at least know and understand what they’re talking about, and often to be able to lend a sympathetic ear to their plight. And if the song happens to be a jam even apart from its insider insight, even better, of course. Here are the Billboard staff’s picks for the 100 greatest songs ever written about the music industry, ranging from classic rock staples to ’90s hip-hop cautionary tales to pop club-slayers from this very year. Some of them tell entire stories about the industry, some of them only memorably glance at in passing, some are told wholly in allegory — but all of them leave you just a little bit wiser and a little more understanding about this thing of ours. - #news #business #world #jobs #school #passion

Happy Tuesday y’all, I wanted to share this snippet of Tom Ray (of psych-punk band Gangrene Dream) & I’s chat as a little gift because it is HUGE. I’ve seen repetitively in my research, in conversations I had with friends and music industry workers that the cost of living plus figuring out life post-COVID has really dampened the experience of not just performing at gigs in hope you get paid! 😭 It has also dampened the experience of going to gigs and having a dance, a drink, and fun with friends cause of the cost. The goal is to ensure that there is a healthy rebuilding the Melbourne music scene. Not to say it’s not there, it clearly is. However, the question is, how can this be sustainable if the community aspect that is central to a scene being alive (fans, prospective fans) if the cost to go out is becoming too much. And musicians themselves can’t always go out and they don’t always get paid (either not the $250 minimum per person OR the venue actually upholding their end of the contract with paying the musician) that can weaken their ability to play at gigs, but just as importantly recording new music. How do you build a resurgence in going to gigs and encourage musicians to go perform around the cost of going out vs the cost of what you’re getting paid to live?! #musicindustry #musicscenes #musicindustrytrends #australianmusic #musicbusiness #successstories #indiemusicians

Music first, talk later. That’s just how these sessions go. Making the music is one thing. Working the music is another. Connecting with artists and producers is just another part of my night sometimes. Then it’s back to booking shows, making clothes and shooting videos. You Know Who Records, all 2025. Moments like this lead to exponential growth when media dollars turn into publishing royalties. Having a hit song is like owning a house that pays in perpetuity. If you look outside your window, imagine all the homes you see, as songs. Now think about how much each house costs to build. Do the math. You know where I’m going with this. Do the work. Invest in your craft. Then work your craft in the international marketplace through DJs, venues, promoters and festivals. We’re growing faster than I could have ever planned. #weareindependentthinkers #growandthinkrich #youknowwhorecords 🥁
