Imagine slashing your electricity costs by 43%. That's exactly what a hospital in Gauteng did when it installed PowerRadar. The hospital initiated a pilot case study aimed at identifying opportunities to enhance energy efficiency and reduce costs. They had no idea how much it would reveal after just 1 month of installing our state-of-the-art energy monitoring software. Now that they had intelligent, real-time data we could quickly help them brainstorm strategies to reduce their energy consumption. Our recommendations included: - Installing automated light switches to stop lights being left on overnight. - Replacing fluorescent globes with energy-efficient LED globes. - Shifting non-essential operations to off-peak times to take advantage of lower electricity tariffs. - Limiting access to areas not essential for use overnight. - Promoting the use of blankets instead of under-desk heaters. But the kicker was identifying illegal electricity usage which the hospital was paying for! Implementing these recommendations *reduced their electricity bill by a staggering 43%. Research says Africa receives close to 3000hours per year of sunlight, so why not create solar generated power which can be used to either power households or charge the vehicles. Hydro power can also be a supplement. As for load shedding with plug in hybrids and electric vehicles offering vehicle to house or grid you can now use left over power from your car into the house in which the car would have been charged using solar

Fact: Waste heat can be utilised 👀 Heat pumps in #datacentres could strengthen the re-use of #wasteheat even within the data centre system. Why is this important? Data centres are expected to increase in the upcoming years... 🇮🇪 In Ireland the amount of electricity used for data centres has more than tripled since 2015 and accounted for 18% of all electricity usage in 2022. 🇩🇰 By 2030, data centres energy use in Denmark will increase sixfold and represent over 15% of the nation's total electricity consumption. In times of war and constant attacks on the energy system, critical infrastructure needs to have reliable sources of backup power 👐 Hospitals, water utilities, and other vital facilities must function without interruption, and partial or complete shutdown of their operations can endanger people's health or lives. 🔋 Most medical facilities in communities are equipped with generators. However, they require constant maintenance, are expensive, and depend on fuel, which may be difficult to access due to the hostilities. An alternative to generators is solar power plants equipped with batteries ☀️⚡️ Although this solution requires significant initial investment, it is a long-term solution: the station will operate in the community for many years, will be able to meet the needs of the institution and accumulate excess energy. The article describes how much it will cost the community compared to a grid-connected solar power plant and what benefits it will bring: https://lnkd.in/eC2i7RSh #SPP #Solar_energy #Ukraine

Reposting this insightful report from the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab's 2017 study on the advantages of #DCAppliances. Despite the clear potential for 20-30% efficiency gains and reduced energy losses, DC appliances and DC power distribution are still not widely adopted, which suggests there are challenges in implementation. At AGreatE, we’ve been able to overcome some of these barriers by developing our own DC-Ecosystem, which integrates PV panels, DC power stations, and DC appliances. This system is now available for communities without access to electricity, providing transformative applications such as clean cooking solutions in Africa and rural electrification in remote areas. By delivering reliable and efficient clean energy, we’re improving quality of life and addressing key challenges like energy poverty. This is a major step forward in leveraging DC technology to create sustainable, impactful solutions. We are excited to continue driving the adoption of DC power systems and contribute to a future where no one is left behind in the energy transition! #EnergyEfficiency #DCAppliances #DCEcosystem #CleanEnergy #SustainableDevelopment #EnergyAccess#AGreatE https://lnkd.in/g3yHcKmC
