How to Pack Electronics for Moving – The Only Guide You’ll Ever Need

Just finished Rosh Hashanah services for one of our local synagogues. It was a hybrid production, and we got to have some fun testing new gear. One of the coolest elements is "Torah Cam," named by the Rabbi. During some of the readings, we mounted the BirdDog X1 above the Torah scroll, then projected that (IMAG), and sent it out in place of the slides to the online audience. The X1 is a fantastic piece of kit. How they managed to squeeze as many features into it at the price point, I'll never know. It used to be if you wanted a sub-$1500 NDI PTZ camera, you had to settle for some generic OEM thing that sort of sent out an okay-ish NDI HX2 feed from an existing h.264 encoder that was pretty sketchy to start with. With the X1, you can have it all now - a great little PTZ camera with lots of mounting options, a good sensor, image controls, and an HX3 encoder that behaves very well - and allows you to choose between h.264 and h.265. My only complaint is that it has a 100 megabit port, but in multicast mode with a good switch (read: the NETGEAR M4250) that's not an issue. Next up - subbing in an X5 Ultra and putting it head to head with the P400's! Thanks for the review unit!
