We’re delighted to see the UK Government adopt the amendment to the Data (Use and Access) Bill to extend email marketing ‘soft opt-in’ for charities – a pivotal step forward for the not-for-profit sector. Great news for charities that the DMA has been able to persuade the UK Government to adopt an amendment to the new data protection Bill (DUA) which will enable charities to use the ‘soft opt-in’ for fundraising. And well done to the DMA for all the work they did on identifying the financial benefits - which did so much to convince the Government to make the change.
