One fundamental human need is to experience a sense of belonging and connection with others. This connection not only promotes health and happiness but also acts as a shield against various physical and psychological ailments. Our personal work at TA is to seek wisdom from Indigenous traditions that can greatly enrich our understanding of community and love. During Indigenous History Month and today, on Indigenous People's Day, we continue to reflect on the Seven Sacred Teachings, a set of guiding principles deeply rooted in Indigenous cultures that offer valuable opportunities for personal reflection on fostering a sense of belonging and respect for all. One of these teachings is Love, which calls for us to care for one another, to be kind, and to show compassion. This learning is of focus as we enter the latter part of Pride Month. The LGBTQIA2S+ community has a personal connection to us at Thought Architects, as Margie highlighted in her blog last year. https://lnkd.in/gmbD9nmf (Yes - just for an update, the "kids" are still dating!). Consider that when you lean into love, you can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone around you. This means that you are recognizing and celebrating the unique contributions, histories, and identities of those who need to be recognized most, and learning along the way about yourself. By embracing the principle of Love from the Seven Sacred Teachings, we can work toward a world where everyone feels a deep sense of belonging and connection – more needed than ever in today’s world. Who will you meet with love? It all starts with you.

National Civility Month People being civil with each other makes the world a much better place and is the key focus of National Civility Month, which is held in August each year. This observance was founded to help the world remember to treat others with kindness, empathy, and respect. Why is civility important? For some, civility is the essential glue that holds society together, and it involves such important issues as friendship, altruism, responsibility, dignity, and justice. Aristotle saw civility as a form of friendship, which he understood as a mutual feeling of good will.

Journal Entry: Embracing Civility and Aloha May 29, 2024 1:29 am Embracing Civility and Aloha in Modern Life Today, I reflected on civility and Aloha, two timeless values that are incredibly relevant in our fast-paced world. Civility is about genuine respect and empathy, while Aloha embodies love, peace, and compassion. Here’s how we can integrate these values into our daily lives: Active Listening: Truly listen to others. Show Respect: Treat everyone with dignity. Extend Kindness: Small acts can make a big impact. Foster Community: Engage with and support your local community. Live with Gratitude: Appreciate everyday moments. By embracing civility and Aloha, we can create a more connected, compassionate world. Let’s make these ideals daily practices for a brighter future. Happy National Civility Month! That's right, there is a whole month dedicated to civility - although we should be practicing it *every* month. August, in particular, is the perfect time to reflect on civility - the importance of kindness, respect, and understanding in our daily interactions. ⭐ Let this month, and the months beyond, encourage us to reflect on how we can contribute to a more civil society, whether at work, in our communities, or at home. Remember, civility is more than just politeness—it's about fostering a culture of empathy, thoughtful communication, and mutual respect. Check out how you can observe this month below and read more about civility in the link provided. #NationalCivilityMonth #Civility #Empathy #Respect #Civiltalk https://lnkd.in/gkwy9git

Respect is the Foundation of Humanity Respecting others is the cornerstone of building harmonious relationships and a just society. It means acknowledging people's rights, opinions, and individuality, regardless of their background or beliefs. When we treat others with respect, we foster mutual understanding, trust, and cooperation. Respect goes beyond politeness; it’s about valuing others for who they are and appreciating their contributions. By showing kindness and empathy, we create an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. Respect isn't just given—it’s earned through actions, words, and attitudes that uplift and support one another.

You will only be celebrated at the level you can celebrate others! Keep resisting clapping for others and you will never hear anyone clapping for you. This principle underscores the importance of fostering a supportive community. When you uplift those around you, you create a cycle of encouragement and positivity. Every compliment you give, every achievement you acknowledge, contributes to an environment where everyone feels valued. Imagine a world where recognition is abundant—where people celebrate each other's successes, big and small. In this world, the applause you give others is reflected back to you in unexpected ways. Your support can inspire someone to reach their potential, and in turn, their success can shine a light on your own contributions. Conversely, if you choose to remain silent or to withhold praise, you risk isolating yourself. The energy you radiate influences how others perceive you. So, embrace the joy of celebrating others. Share in their victories and learn from their journeys. The more you give, the more you will receive, creating a harmonious cycle of appreciation and growth. Happy new year

The Radiant Quest for Clarity I imagine Cain and Abel feeling as we do now—quietly disagreeable, a mere glance away from violence. Perhaps Romulus and Remus, who loved each other from the womb, glimpsed in one another a reflection of ideas so diametrically opposed that it felt like hate and mourned the love that was lost. Did Jacob and Esau, like us, born of the same mother, lament their inability to understand each other and resolve, with deep certainty, to forge paths that carried them away from one another? Purpose can be found in both paths: in bridging divides or embracing conflict. As with Cain and Abel, Romulus and Remus, and Jacob and Esau, the choice shapes our story. Seeking clarity through connection transforms conflict into meaning and love. Yet, those who find purpose in rivalry must ask if that path truly fulfills or leaves them chasing a resolution that never comes. The choice defines the legacy we build. Read this open letter and respond as you feel led. https://lnkd.in/ek3Dpm4t #radiantqueatforclarity #Clarity #wisdom #citytoinspire

Let's BE the light in the world. Expressing admiration and appreciation for others is essential for fostering connection and humanity. When we openly acknowledge the qualities we admire in someone else, we not only uplift their spirits but also strengthen the bonds between us. Sharing admiration builds trust and creates a supportive environment where individuals feel valued and understood. Furthermore, it encourages a culture of positivity and kindness, reinforcing the idea that genuine recognition of each other's strengths is not only healthy but necessary for our collective well-being. In a world often plagued by negativity and criticism, openly expressing admiration serves as a powerful reminder of the beauty and goodness that exists within each of us, nurturing a sense of empathy and unity in our communities.

I think #Allyship is vital to #Survival. I recently delivered a webinar on my 'active race allyship' to others. Starting with what I meant by the terms 'race' and 'racism', I went on to talk about my own protected characteristics and deprivation groups. I linked all this back to recognising, owning and leveraging my privilege. In feedback people said it was powerful and inspired them to make things better. I also received allyship this weekend. Someone noticed I've been quieter and reached out. They blessed me with their time and their love. We walked, talked and ate lunch. We explored what felt messy and reframed. As Black History Month draws to a close I challenge you to join my #AllyshipPledge, which has been inspired by Roger Kline & Prof Joy Warmington. If you come across a tricky situation, no matter how disconnected it seems, ask yourself: "Could race or racism be having an impact here?" If the answer could be yes, lean into it. Digest the discomfort. Explore how the answer might be yes even if you don't think it is (or don't want it to be!). Ask yourself the tough questions. Enhance your understanding. Allyship isn't pink and fluffy. It is #HumanConnection. It is #MentalHealthCare. It is #Community. It is #Support. It is #Vital.

A quote by Malcolm X, the American human rights activist: 📖 "Why am I as I am? To understand that of any person, his whole life, from birth must be reviewed. All of our experiences fuse into our personality." Not only the experiences but also the mosaic of our innate personality traits 🧩 shape each of us. The elements of our inborn nature 🌱, as well as the relationships we’ve nurtured 🤝 throughout our lives, fuse to create the unique individuals we are today. As CMCs, we believe that understanding ourselves 💡 and being aware of our experiences 🛤️ are the keys 🔑 to unlocking personal growth 🌟 and building deeper, more meaningful relationships. That’s where the MyMarq Personality Test (MPT) comes in. 🧠✨ In fact, one of our clients recently stated: "Now I do not have to be anymore what the others want me to be!" The MPT is more than a tool—it’s a guide 🚀 to help you explore yourself 🔍 and understand how your life’s journey 🌍 has shaped you to be who you are now, while uncovering insights that empower you to thrive 🌈. Whether it’s gaining clarity about your strengths 💪, navigating relationships with greater empathy ❤️, or simply understanding yourself on a deeper level 🌀, MyMarq provides you with concrete tools 🛠️ to support you every step of the way. We invite you to reflect on yourself and your own journey. 🌟 What experiences have shaped you the most? How can they help you understand not only yourself but also the people around you? As we explore these questions together, let’s celebrate the beauty of growth 🌱, resilience 💪, and connection 🤝. Thank you for allowing MyMarq to be part of your story! 🎉 And Happy Christmas time! 🎄🎁
