This is all true, but potentially irrelevant. You can have the best army to fight the previous war, but is it the best army for the next war? The quality of the people and their organization can be a huge competitive advantage. But if they are not trained in modern war and are not equipped to fight it, can they prevail? The drone war of today and tomorrow requires different equipment, different training, and different unit organization than today's US Army. The United States Marine Corps has started to adapt to the new reality. The US Navy and United States Air Force are lagging behind. The US spend more money on defense than the next seven nations combined, but is it spending it on the right things? In the right ways? The US has become the high-cost producer of almost everything, yet in war, low-cost mass production is critical. The recent RAND study is quite damning and, frankly, scary about how ill-prepared the US is to fight a real war. #ww3 Garrett M. Graff

20 Sep 06:50: ‘NCOs without surveillance and attack drones, counter-drones, small unit EW, flying grenades, UGV-deployable mines and ammo delivery and casualty recovery, and flying thermite/wp dispensers are going to feel like US Grant’s troops fighting George Patton. All of these technologies are available, inexpensive (compared with other stuff we currently buy), easily adaptable and upgradable on the base platforms — and should ALREADY be in service with all of our infantry, armour, artillery, and recon units. Washington fiddles and runs along at the same old ponderous pace while the clock ticks. Time to kill red tape’: Me (TSz): ‘ … AND time to also ignore Putin lies and his so called ‘Red Lines’ … which Putin seems superbly to continue to control Biden … such that Biden continues to protect Russian territory at the expense of Ukraine’s? Am I missing something?’: Thank you H Perry 🇺🇸 … and J Scott 🇺🇸🇺🇦:

Curious about the value a military veteran brings to a team? It's not just a job, it's a commitment to professionalism. Veterans are shaped to listen, react, study, and ask the right questions. With clear direction, give them a couple of years, and there's nothing a seasoned military pro can't achieve. Listen to this clip from Steven Cote (US Navy Vet) from Sikorsky Aircraft as he explains what Veterans bring to the table. Consider the impact of veterans in your company—they're game-changers. #7Eagle #DoDSkillBridge #TransitioningMilitary #MilitaryTransition #MilitaryTalent

Michael Monsoor, US Navy, served as a communicator and machine-gunner with SEAL Team Three during the Battle of Ramadi. On September 29, 2006, Monsoor, two fellow SEALs and three Iraqi Soldiers took to a rooftop to provide overwatch support for another element. At some point, a grenade was thrown from the street below, striking Monsoor in the chest before falling to the ground. Monsoor, given his position closest to the stairwell, was the only person who would been able to escape without having to step over the grenade. Rather than doing so, Monsoor covered the grenade with his torso. His decision cost him his life and saved the lives of his teammates. Punchline: Character matters most. When our titles, wealth, and accomplishments are stripped away, what remains? This week, take time to prioritize "being" over "doing." All that you "do" and the artifacts of that "doing" are just derivatives, clues, as to who you really are. How you actually exist in the world — for your family, your team, and your life. Author's Note: Operating a business is not war. I think it's important not to conflate the two. I author these posts in hopes that we can harness the contributions of America's veterans to create better, more fulfilling lives. #Veterans #veteranmentalhealth #writing #military

Partners in PROMISE would like to recognize Silver Star Service Banner Day on May 1st. Silver Star Service Banner Day is for Americans to recognize and remember service members who have been wounded in combat, are sick, and who are dying. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, the Silver Star Medal is the third-highest medal a member of the Armed Forces can receive for gallant action during combat. The U.S. Army normally awards the distinguished medal as the "Silver Star," while the Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard award the medal as the "Silver Star Medal." All branches of the military give the award as a result of action against an enemy of the U.S. during the conflict over a short period, normally one or two days. How can you recognize Silver Star Service Banner Day: 1. Attend a local veteran organization or military base event honoring Silver Star personnel and families. 2. Display your Silver Star Service Banner outside your home or business. 3. Volunteer to help at a local event honoring Silver Star recipients. 4. Show gratitude and thank all service members for their contributions to our nation. #SilverStarServiceBannerDay #MilitaryFamilies
