Respect for patient autonomy has radically transformed how society engages with science and medicine. We’ve come so far in the last 10 years. But there is so much more to be done. Here’s my #ISPEP perspective on 4 reasons why the patient voice is needed to unlock the full benefit of the pharmaceutical industry to society: https://shorturl.at/W4eQu 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 via patient-led entrepreneurship and increased clinical trial recruitment and retention. 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 not just because it’s so obviously the right thing to do, but because increased diversity in clinical research helps combat health inequalities. 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 than those without, helping to keep healthcare relevant to real-world needs. 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 and combat harmful online myths. I'm excited to be part of the positive disruption patient engagement can bring for Pharma, medicine, and the politics of health.
