For the first two years of the pandemic, it felt like every group I was a part of wanted to talk about self-care and burnout. Some of those discussions were helpful, and many reinforced tunnel vision and a general air of despair. At New Roots Institute, we have reflected extensively on this David Whyte quote: “The antidote to exhaustion is not rest: it's wholeheartedness. ” At our last staff retreat, we had whole team conversations about wholeheartedness. 🌿 How do you feel when an action you take comes from a place of love? 🌿 How do you feel when an action you take comes from a place of fear (or obligation)? 🌿 How do you know when you’re acting out of love? Out of fear? 🌿 How might this frame help orient us toward “self-care”? 🌿 Why might reframing like this be important? Why does framing matter? 🌿 How are ideas of self-care and burnout often not helpful? I know what it's like to do work out of obligation and, in contrast, from a place of wholeheartedness. Understanding the difference between fulfilling duties and pursuing goals with authentic enthusiasm has been instrumental in shaping my approach both personally and professionally. This week, I look forward to hearing more about creating a culture of care to reduce burnout in our shared movement, in a discussion hosted by Jo Anderson, Eva Hamer, Kimberly Carroll, and Ben Newman at The Animal & Vegan Advocacy (AVA) Summit! Check out their discussion from 3:30 - 4:45 pm on Friday (5/17), and be sure to stick around to dive into fundraising for small nonprofits in a discussion hosted by Brooke Haggerty, Ana Bradley, and me right after! https://lnkd.in/gQW8Yy8B Faunalytics Pro-Animal Future Animal Justice Animal Rising Sentient

Cruel and controversial - that's what foie gras is. Then what's it doing on the hospitality menu at the Olympics?! Watch this short video by Animal Equality's founder Sharon Nuñez Gough to learn more then click on the link below to stand up for animals! --> https://lnkd.in/giJDE3EE!
🔴 Get foie gras out of the Olympics! Today we are launching a global campaign urging organisers of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games to permanently remove foie gras from its menu. 🌱 The Olympic Committee has already pledged to serve 60% of its dishes plant-based this year, a great step forward for animals! BUT foie gras is a divisive and incredibly controversial product - it cannot be allowed on the menu. Foie gras is produced through the practice of force-feeding - this harmful practice is already banned in several countries because of the harm it causes to animals. 📣 SIGN TODAY! Join us in calling on the Committee to remove foie gras from the hospitality menu. We need to make our voices heard for animals. Find out how: https://lnkd.in/giJDE3EE! ⏰ Don't miss out! Join the “No Cruelty Unseen” campaign and double your impact. For a limited time, your donation to Animal Equality will be matched! Give today: https://lnkd.in/gJAtCism.

So, what do animal advocates think about cultivated meat? 🤔🌱 At AVA, we love engaging with our #community on groundbreaking topics—and cultivated meat is no exception! 📈 You may remember that we recently surveyed #animal #advocates to explore their perspectives on this #revolutionary #innovation, and here’s what we discovered from 290 respondents: 🔹 The majority is FOR it! 🙌 Many of you see cultivated meat as a key step in bridging the gap between advocacy and mainstream acceptance. 🔹Overwhelmingly, respondents want to see cultivated products showcased at AVA Summits. 🚀 🔹From "It’s the future!" to "It’s not for me, but I see the value," your voices reflect the #complexity of our movement. Your feedback shapes how we approach these topics at our events, and how we make choices surrounding food options, in-kind sponsorship donations, and more. 🤝🏾 ✨ Whether you're for it, indifferent, or still deciding, we appreciate the passion and thoughtful insights you took the time to share. One thing is for sure: Our #movement is full of innovative thinkers! We were blown away (and so inspired) by each of your responses. 🙏🏾 🌎💡Together, we innovate for the animals. Together, #WeAreAVA 💚

AI can be pretty cool 😉 Here's my 2024 LinkedIn Rewind powered by Coauthor: 2024 proved that when you align your words with your values, transformation follows. When I joined Fundraise Up, I found a way to turn my love of writing into meaningful impact. From helping nonprofits improve their fundraising to supporting animal welfare initiatives, every word became a catalyst for change. Key moments from 2024: • Earned three NonprofitReady certifications to deepen sector expertise • Expanded fundraising impact for the Purple Leash Project • Strengthened support for The Southeastern Cave Conservancy Looking ahead: 2025 is about expanding nonprofit impact through strategic content while continuing to champion animal welfare and environmental causes. Because every word can spark transformation when it serves a greater purpose 🚀
