𝗘𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲. As I’ve launched First Circle, I’ve spent the last 6-8 weeks on the road meeting with as many people as possible. It has been a very organic effort, and the basic playbook has been simple: • Identify the brightest minds I know in whatever city I visit—entrepreneurs, innovators, and otherwise exceptional individuals who have charted their own unique paths to success. • Invite them to lunch. • Learn as much as I can from them over a meal. I am not pitching them on legal services. I just want to understand how they've approached building their businesses and how they make sense of the world. Business is business. Whether it's a consumer products company, an AI startup, or a law firm, we’re all developing a product offering, marketing it to the world, seeking to delight customers, and building a life/living around that. Anyone who has attempted this and successfully come out on the other side has 𝗮 𝘁𝗼𝗻 of wisdom to offer to the world. I can’t keep all this wisdom to myself. So from here on out, if I have a meal with one of these remarkable people (and they're on board), I am going to share nuggets of wisdom from these conversations with you all. I am calling this “Eat meals with smart people.” The first installment is expected later this week. If you’re a curious mind like me, feel free to follow along. Working with a local business? Pretty straightforward. Let's say it's a bar. 🍺 Their brand is set: great drinks, good vibes, and a loyal crowd. Sure, they’ll tweak the menu, but the core of who they are doesn’t change. But new founders? A different story. Especially for service providers. But as the old saying goes, scared money don’t make money. Scared money tends to lose more money by falling for quick fix gimmicks. There are no one size fits all solutions when it comes to client acquisition. There’s playbooks and best practices… But no guarantees. Kellen Casebeer knows better than most that any activity requires a series of experiments to find the unlock. Sometimes you find the right combination of the first go… Sometimes it’s on the 63rd go. Either way doing something is better than doing nothing.
