Our first Mixed Reality experience on Print media with Britannia Industries Limited on The Hindu newspaper is now LIVE! Building this was an exhilarating process as we had the freedom to reimagine what traditional static media like out-of-home and print could be. Now that more and more people are aware of Mixed Reality, we chose an ‘application-first’ rather than a ‘hardware-first’ approach. Flam experience runs seamlessly on a smartphone camera, without the requirement of wearable form factors like Vision Pro or Meta Quest. With the growth of MR, we wanted to democratize mixed reality experiences at scale. The decision to build ‘application-first’ was conscious - for the sole reason that the maximum number of people could enjoy this mixed reality experience right on their phones. This was our first big launch in advertising and solving problems for India like optimizing download sizes for all phones and tackling low internet speeds was a challenge. We’ve managed to champion through and provide a smooth experience. Grab a copy of The Hindu today and enjoy this experience for yourself! Cheers to the first and many more to come! [Releasing Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata editions tomorrow] AI-powered mixed-reality content platform for marketing #FlamJam #Britannia #FlamInstant #MRCampaign #MixedRealit

On February 24, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Varanasi. Launched projects worth 13,000 crore using a virtual reality (VR) headset. Here is how it went: ✅PM Modi launched several development projects worth over Rs 13,000 crore during his visit. The projects cover sectors like road, rail, aviation, tourism, education, health, drinking water, urban development, and sanitation. ✅ He distributed prizes to winners of 'Sansad Sanskrit Pratiyogita' at Banaras Hindu University (BHU). He also launched two books about Kashi. ✅ He acknowledged Kashi's contribution to Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. He stated that Kashi will become an employment and skills hub in the next 5 years. What stood out in all of these is - him using a VR headset, which is Meta Quest 3. It was used to visualize the Kashi Ropeway in Varanasi, which will be the first public transport ropeway in India. This ropeway is 3.75 km long and has five stations. And the organiser could have used a simple PowerPoint to show the infrastructure but chose to use VR, and here is why: ➡️ VR technology is great for seeing assets like cars and buildings. ➡️ It helps you understand progress and size better. ➡️ It is much better than looking at them on a tablet or laptop. ➡️ It makes things look more real & very useful for vehicles and construction. It is indeed true that asset visualization is a fantastic use case for VR technology. So the next time someone refers to AR or VR for your 18-year-old cousin's gaming or entertainment source, let them know about these monumental effects that VR has. 💡How often have you heard people misunderstand VR as just a medium for entertainment? #virtualreality #metaverse

Congratulations Mumbai! Mumbaikars will be able to stay updated on the city's current developments, thanks to the debut of the VR project called "Mumbai Megapolis Metaverse" by the Department of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, and the Tech Entrepreneurs Association of Mumbai (TEAM). This initiative was introduced on February 18 during Mumbai Tech Week that offers an immersive virtual portrayal of Mumbai. Some Web3 industries are gaining official approval to encroach on people's daily life in crypto-sceptical India. One example of such Web3 technology is Metaverse. The "Mumbai Metropolis Metaverse" was revealed recently by Maharashtra's deputy chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis. Through the metaverse, the anticipated 21 million residents will be able to monitor municipal progress thanks to this block chain-based virtual gateway. The city's changing changes will also be visible to those who are not inside it. For the first time, an Indian city has made its metaverse debut at a time when global industry participants are expressing interest in expanding into India. This free platform will offer an immersive view of the ongoing developments in and around Mumbai using an interactive 3D and Virtual Reality (VR)-based interface. #MumbaiMegapolisMetaverse #TechInMumbai #VirtualMumbai #MumbaiTechWeek #MetaverseUpdates #VRInnovation #MaharashtraTech #FutureOfCities #MumbaiDevelopment #Web3InIndia #MumbaiIn3D

The purpose of gamification is to make things playful so that they stick. For this, it needs to be made simple enough to avoid friction with engagement and be fluid enough to facilitate immersion. A great example of this is how the metro lines of Mumbai are called the Blue Line, Yellow line and Red line. Blue is Versova - Ghatkopar. Yellow is DN Nagar - Dahisar and the Red line is Dahisar - Gundavali. By mapping routes to colour lines, you know which metro to take to reach your destination without getting confused or all caught up amongst the different routes. By employing this gamification tactic, travelling on Mumbai metros is simple, memorable and engaging. Thought the example I’m using is of Mumbai metros, the colour lines mapped to routes is a gamification tactic applicable to metros worldwide. This gamification tactic works not only for real life metros but also for mobile and board games based on transportation and/or rail routes. The reason this works is because it is so simple, catchy and fun. It is also scalable. With additional metro routes that will soon be introduced. Calling them green, pink, orange, magneta, gold lines and so on makes it easy on the cognitive load of the daily commuters. Layers can be added without redrawing the mental maps that are already established. #uxdesign #servicedesign #gamification #userexperienceresearch #uxjourney #transportation #mumbai #rajatkumar #customerjourneymap

Mumbai is changing. At times sprinting and at times crawling, but it is changing. The recent euphoria of Atal Setu was perfectly balanced out by the fiasco in Andheri, reminding us that we should always manage our expectations! This rant can continue indefinitely but that's for another time. I'm here to tell you about something less blood boiling. The government recently launched a unique metaverse-themed initiative launched to keep us informed about all the infrastructure projects happening across the city. The Mumbai Metropolis Universe gives us an interactive map of Mumbai with all the various projects correctly slotted in different parts of the city. 3D views of projects like the Coastal Road, Atal Setu and the Panvel airport are currently available in the form of YouTube videos. The plan is to incorporate VR as well, giving everyone the chance to actually experience how the project will eventually turn out. Governments are usually the last to incorporate technology so its great to see that for a change, they are the early adopters! After viewing the portal, I know your first thought will be about how this is not what you expect the Metaverse to be! To be honest, no one knows what the Metaverse will eventually be. Not you or me or Zuck. But, its experiments like these that will push us towards understanding its potential. Even though the UI is clunky and not perfect, I would rather us trying than not doing anything at all! Link to the portal in the comments.
