You’d fly business class, rack up elite status, or maybe even flash a platinum credit card. It felt like an achievement, a reward for your loyalty to the airline gods. 🎖️ 🌟 Fast forward to today, and it’s a different story. Credit card programs, loyalty points, and partnerships have democratized the lounge experience. Suddenly, everyone’s got a golden ticket. 🎫✨ 🤔 But here’s the rub: The floodgates have opened wide, and now lounges are bursting at the seams. Today's top tip Tuesday tip........ Plan carefully and don't solely rely on tools when negotiating your rates for next year. Are there events taking place this year that will not be taking place next year? Or vice versa? Are there major events taking place in another country that will take business away from yours? Are there more hotels opening so supply is more than it was this year? Are there going to be the same number of flights to your destination next year as there were this year? Is the post Covid travel bug well and truly over? What does your pickup forecast look like compared to same time last year? I may not be a revenue specialist but having spent over 25 years as a negotiator for the largest wholesale tour operator in the world, I have seen first hand some of the pitfalls that hotels have found themselves in. Just because March this year was busy doesn't mean March next year will be busy so identify why it was busier than usual - did Easter fall in March? Was there a large conference or Taylor Swift concert taking place? Part 2 of 2 I have some interesting bookings in the pipeline where guests do not specify an airline. I leverage my discretion to select an airline based on specific criteria: - Fares - City of departure - Routing - Layovers - Customer service quality to minimize any potential challenges. It's crucial that I utilize the commissions I earn wisely, as mishaps like excessive phone calls (Virgin Atlantic have just recently cost me hundreds) can significantly impact my earnings. I prioritize seamless pre-sale and after-sale service to ensure a smooth booking process for all parties involved. I am open to a discussion on the above plus any affiliate partnership opportunity.
