In 58 minutes and 17 seconds $69,900 of tickets were gone. This is how we pulled it off: 1. Put together an event that was too good to pass up My friends Noel Andrews, Seonaid Beckwith and I have been running this event for entrepreneurs for years, and every year we make it better. Every year we go through the feedback forms with a fine-toothed comb, and look at how we can up our game to improve the experience of the people attending. 2. Built hype We put together a group (in WhatsApp) of interested people. We promoted the WhatsApp group more than we promoted the event, and it was an easy first step to take for people to join it. We quickly got far more people in the group than there were tickets available. Everyone could see that there were more people after tickets than there were tickets to buy. So they knew the scarcity was real. Hint - this step is vital, and almost no-one does this. Hat tip to Daniel Priestley for this. 3. Kept the excitement brewing with exclusive updates and previews. As we prepared this year’s event we’d give updates on the venue, speakers, entertainment, food and drinks. This kept everyone buzzing with anticipation. Then as we got closer we shared videos of past conferences so everyone could see just how good of an event it was. 4. Used scarcity and urgency to get people to take action Year one we sold out in 4 weeks, year 2 in 1 week, year 3 in 22 hours. So we confidently told people this would sell out FAST. Using urgency and scarcity makes all the difference in your marketing. This created a genuine feeling of that urgency and scarcity, which led to people being ready to take action the moment tickets went on sale. Some even found their fingers shaking over the button in fear that they wouldn't get a ticket. Next time I anticipate it selling out in 15 minutes. 335 tickets sold for our Father’s day campaign! My client can’t rely on the door ticket sales to his music events. He needs online sales in advance. He has a LOT of costs to cover: 😎Pay the band 🏟️Pay the venue 📈Pay for marketing Cancelling the event was not an option… so we needed a huge boost in sales! We ran a Father’s Day offer for 4 days It worked. And the results speak for themselves: CPA = £3.81 ROAS = 6.82 AOV = 23.40 This increased tickets sales AND managed to SELL OUT one of the events! Attendees who feel a sense of belonging are more likely to return to future events. Belonging increases attendee satisfaction and overall event success. Let’s take 1 common mistake: Overlooking the importance of welcoming new attendees properly, both pre-event, and at registration. Let’s fix it: The initial welcome goes a long way. Put together clear, exciting, comprehensive emails to attendees before they arrive. Make sure that you answer their questions. If they're unsure, they don't feel secure. Make sure that there are dedicated team members or volunteers to welcome and guide new attendees at registration. Consider welcoming them at registration with a welcome mocktail or water.
