What if true worship transcends temples and rituals? Could it be that Jesus’ priesthood is not just about tradition, but about restoring humanity and bridging the gap between us and God? Consider the significance of a Samaritan leper and an outcast woman at a well—how do their encounters with Jesus reveal God’s heart? Imagine a High Priest who not only offers sacrifices but becomes the sacrifice Himself. How do these scenarios show the deeper revelation of God’s plan? I will explore these questions and more in my upcoming book, The Garden of Scripture.

It doesn't take faith to believe in something we can see or touch. Christians are to walk by faith and not by sight. Faith isn't a crutch for the weak-minded. It is a gift from God that opens our spiritual eyes to life's greatest reality. Here is the May 3 devotional from my "Next Step Devotions" book, based on John 20:24-29. https://lnkd.in/eijU7UPA

Did you ever stop to consider that what you think in your heart will become what you do in your life? That’s why Scripture warns us to “Take care lest there be an unworthy thought in your heart” (Deut. 15:9) This is why it’s so vital that we daily, moment-by-moment, choose to set our heart on godly things (Col. 3:1-2) and not allow even a momentary thought about how to gratify the sinful desires of King Me (Rom. 13:14). This is why we must always use Scripture to take captive every thought and make each thought obedient to Christ (2 Cor. 10:5). Let’s ask God to help us be aware of the thoughts and intentions of our heart today (Heb. 4:12).

I recently read an article suggesting that when Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem in Acts 1, he commanded them to pray together. What do you think? Is the author of that article reading more into it, or is he right? Regardless of whether he commands them to pray as a group, there are benefits to corporate prayers. The link below is to my Patreon page, outlining what I see as the benefits of praying with other Christians. What benefits do you see? https://lnkd.in/gw5bMPvs

Today's sermon is "Why Eve? Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” (Genesis 3:1 NIV) As we continue our study in Genesis 3:1–10 we want to ask ourselves what it was about Eve that caused the serpent to choose her for his attack. Why didn’t he start with Adam? What signals did Eve send that indicated she was the easier target? Perhaps it was because she had second hand knowledge about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Adam got the command directly from God which may have made him a more difficult target. So the serpent went after the one who had to rely on the words of another rather than on the words of the one who had actually gotten the command directly from the source. She could have relied on the word God that she learned from Adam, but she didn’t. Today many of us would like to have a firsthand experience with God. We long for an audible voice to speak out of the clouds or a bright light to overpower us, but that may not happen. However, like Eve we are no less responsible. You and I have the Word of God in Scripture. We have that ultimate Word of God in Jesus Christ, the Word that was made flesh and now lives in us because of our faith in him. We also have God’s continuing presence in the form of the Holy Spirit, who guides us into all truth, who helps us know when God is speaking. Hopefully we will be found among those who do not have to have the miraculous but are satisfied with the Word of God available to us. From the standpoint of obedience to that Word, the signals we send must be certain signals about our faith in and commitment to Jesus Christ. Satan will find no easy targets among us, even if our reports are second hand
