Are you looking to come to the Destin, FL area to live, enjoy, move out to this area and had some general questions of whether this place is going to be for me. Well, in this video, we're going to go over exactly that as we stand here in the Harbor Walk of Destin and go over the top eight things that people have been asking about moving to this area. Let's talk about those big things. So if you haven't been to Destin before and you're just in your initial cert Destins right smack dab in the middle of the Emerald Coast. Where's the Emerald Coast here in Florida? Well, it's anywhere that you're going to see from Pensacola to Panama City Beach, so right in that area. In the center is Destin and it's your destination spot. Unintended. So if you are heading out this way, some of the best ways to get into this area is either the I-10 or you're looking to, if you're driving in or come on into the Destin Fort Walton Beach Airport, also part of Eglin Air Force Base. So pretty interesting if you've never actually been to a place that has military jets flying around your air carriers. Alright, so #2 why do people want to live in Destin? Well, it's kind of obvious. Isn't it no, we won't see it necessarily on my walk through unless we threw it in there and B roll. But you're going to see some great white sand beaches. All the nautical things to do the community here is amazing you know being part of the military for about 14 years traveling around the world, the best place in the state that I was able to go to and it was right here on the Emerald Coast. It was in the Destin area love this area and I'm going to tell you more about that of course but the biggest thing why people are moving to this area I'm going to say it's our next one, which is the community the. Here's amazing, you know, I'm a guy, I grew up in upstate New York and you know, people are a little set in their ways and then I can't say that that's just a New York thing, but you know what I'm talking about. And people aren't always that friendly very much to themselves with the community is really nice here. If you're gonna get all sorts of different types of people that live in this community, and a lot of them are retired military, prior military, come from all different branches of the military service and it's because there's five military installations around here and it drives a lot of those. Traffic and just like myself, I was like, you know, I really love this place. I think this is where I'm gonna get out and I'm gonna start a life for myself and my family. And it's been great. You know, the best way to kind of describe it is that you get a real big variety of different types of people from different areas. You have a lot of that, the military formality that comes out of people here. We're also really close to Alabama and Georgia, so you get a bit of the South in there too. So that's what people typically are kind of acting like. And of course we're in Florida. So, you know, you get a mix of Florida. People in here too, which makes a big difference. So I mean, you, you put all that together, people absolutely love it. One other thing that we'll mention here is the weather. I know people have a lot of concerns like ohh, there's always hurricanes, there's always this, there's always that. Well, let me tell you about the weather right now. We're in February and as you can see, short sleeves and jeans, whatever. I'm still a little bit cold and it is approximately 61�� out. That's just me with my Florida skin, so please don't hold that against me, but you know. Really get about two months of it being kind of cold here. That's really about it is we only see about that it's the January, February time frame. And when I say cold, I mean average temperatures when you wake up in the morning going to be around like 45 ish 50 and then it starts to tick right back up in the March time frame and then we're good to go. We do see sometimes I've seen it get in the 20s. I saw it happen this year in 2024 and you know, it's, it is what it is. But in the summertime it gets hot, hot and humid. It's typical Florida. Weather right, so you're going to get there in the start of the day will be 80�� and 90% humidity it's kind of brutal, especially if you like to run like I do and go outside you're like this is insane, but if you like the warm weather, you're definitely in for a treat when moving here. So the other part that kind of affects moving to this area is our seasonal tourism. As you probably saw in the video, there's a couple of people rolling around on the harbor docks, but typically when we are down on this area, it is full to the T matter of fact, in other videos you can hear people saying. Hello to me as I walk, I can do these videos, but yes, the seasonal tourism is going to affect the things that you think is going to affect more or less like the traffic, right traffic in this area anytime between March and I'd say September is going to be pretty rough. However, you can mitigate a lot of these by just simply checking Waze or Google Maps just so you can be unsure how long it's actually going to take you there just because there's not a whole lot of alternative routes to get around places here in the Destin area. So just. Make sure that you check that before you leave your home and I think you'd be good to go. This infrastructure is actually really set up for all of the awesome tourists that do come in here. That's really good. It brings a lot to this economy and has us have great shops and restaurants, which is really great. And you know, if things are going to happen around this area is probably right here in Destin. Next is well, what does housing cost, you know, across the board, What would it cost? Maybe I'm looking for a condo and attached unit, maybe a waterfront. Or you know something like that or just a standalone. Well, here in Destin, it's can be pricey. It's not as pricey as say Miramar Beach, but but it can get pretty pricey here. Are we? The average cost in the area is around 665,000 and up to about 888,000 now, at least at the time of this video. Most of these are actually sticking around for the market for a while now. Of course, it would depend on your price point. What we're seeing around 5 to 8 weeks we're homes will actually stay on the market. So if you see something that's been on there a little bit. Better maybe it's just not price competitively, I don't know alright and what's there to do in Destin man unsurprised that was a that was a question that came up yes there's tons of stuff to do here. You have I'm on the docks right now there's plenty of deep sea fishing right. You have the dolphin tours, the snorkeling tours anything nautical really you want to get on jet skis. It got crab island not too far down the way over here. Then you can go hang out and do that boating some world class boating fishing all the water stuff you want to do hang out at the beach. If you haven't seen the beaches here, it's a beautiful white sand beaches. You'll absolutely love that just great access to things. Now not only that, but there are it's a tourist town, so there's tons of stuff for you and the family to go do. There's a water park here, there's go karts. There's tons of different things for you guys to do. You also have the Destin Commons and outdoor mall with the movie theater. Yes, no lack of things to do here in the Destin area. And last but not least, people ask like what's it really take to get started doing this? How do how do I really start well? One of the first things that you're going to be starting doing is, well, doing your research and that's probably what you're doing right now. Once you kind of figure out, hey, this is going to be the area or areas that I'm searching, then you could start kind of looking online and see what's available for you to rent or to purchase out in this area. But realistically, once you start saying, hey, you know, I'm really going to start getting into this and want to know what the process is and everything else like that, Reach out to myself, reach out to our team here. We've got your back. When moving up to this area, we can go over the things that you're going to want to know about. The things that you can't find online, yeah, we're finding it out online now, but there's more. Or if there's some things I need to find out that's not online. Well, what's happening right now in the market? Well, right now this video, I could tell you that, but it's going to change tomorrow more than likely. But what's happening right now in the market and what you could expect when you're purchasing a home, moving to a specific area, what have you, you know, a lot of things change on the day-to-day. You'll also figure out, you know, what the process looks like. I've done real estate in three other states, New York, Ohio and here in Florida, and I could. Tell you that different regions have different things and different ways that they do them, especially different states. So figuring out what that process looks like, how long it actually takes and given your situation, you know how you can put a plan together. And that's exactly the last part is going, hey, what are you looking for and how can we match your needs and expectations with what's actually happening in the market or about to happen? Would you figure out all those different things?
