FSC is very proud of our design work on the St Leonards Boat Ramp Upgrade. The project consisted of a full reconstruction of the approach jetty and T-head with the addition of a new concrete wave screen at the head and wave baffles lining both sides of the approach jetty. This was our first project developing a structural design using FRP (fiber reinforced polymer) sections throughout which was an interesting learning curve but resulted in a great looking and durable product. Best of all, we achieved one of our key functional objectives by being able to achieve an improved boat launching climate. We have now protected users from the exposure of waves by implementing the wave screen and approach baffles. I recently saw this project up close on a visit to the #HS2 Curzon St site, and I have to admit, it's pretty impressive! Personally, I love working on these projects. 🚧 Transforming Challenges into Solutions at Brigsteer Road, Kendal 🌱 At the entrance to Story Homes’ Brigsteer Rise development in Kendal, Cumbria, a steep rock face posed both aesthetic and practical challenges. The goal? To create a welcoming, vegetated slope for residents. Working alongside consulting engineers RSK, Maccaferri delivered an innovative solution: ✅ Stabilisation with Vegetation: Using 1850m² of MacWeb Geosynthetic 3D cellular containment to hold topsoil in place on the steep, rocky surface. ✅ Rock-Solid Installation: Double Twist Rockfall Netting secured with a robust trench system and cable ties ensured stability without traditional pins. ✅ Aesthetic & Functional Design: The result is a slope ready to support vegetation while withstanding rainfall erosion.
