2024, what a year! ✨ Looking back, it's been a year full of milestones, challenges, and moments that made me truly appreciate how far we’ve come. At Cicada Innovations, it’s been a year of growth - not just for us, but for the incredible deep tech ecosystem we’re part of. This year, I had the chance to oversee a range of events, from roadshows and networking sessions to community breakfasts and co-hosted events with amazing organisations. Each one felt like a small piece of a bigger puzzle, with people coming together to push the deep tech scene forward. But it’s not just about the events - it’s about the community we’ve built. Nearly 50 startups now call South Eveleigh HQ home, and it’s been amazing to watch them pour their passion into bringing their solutions to life. Beyond Cicada at South Eveleigh, seeing the communities at Jumar Bioincubator and the Cicada Health Tech Hub grow has been one of the year’s highlights. There’s something special about watching people find a place where they can belong and thrive. And, of course, this year also saw another edition of Cicada x Tech23, with over 400 people coming together to celebrate deep tech innovation. Watching 23 of Australia's most promising startups take the stage and supporting them on their journey, each with their own story to share, reminds me why I love being part of this ecosystem. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better team to share this year with. Every success, every hurdle, and every step of growth was something we achieved together.

#Spacetech is one of the most challenging #STEMeducation fields because it is incredibly multi-disciplinary and demanding. Think you can't do it hands-on in order to make it accessible to more learners? Launch Canada & InspireTech Canada know otherwise. You are Gen T - and there is no turning back. As a #space #podcaster, I've had the privilege to converse with brilliant minds that gaze into the stars, dreaming of the next #frontier. Yet, the final frontier isn't just beyond our atmosphere; it's also within the intricate digital ecosystems we're weaving right here on #Earth. At this year's SXSW, futurist Amy Webb presented a compelling #outlook for the technological landscape of 2024, introducing the concept of a technological #supercycle. This isn't just about one transformative technology, but a "perfect storm" of three converging fields: ➡️ Artificial intelligence, ➡️ Connected ecosystems of things, and ➡️ Biotechnology. Such a confluence, Webb argues, places our generation, #GenT, at the heart of a transition into something profoundly new and #uncharted. The parallel between exploring space and navigating this technological supercycle is striking. Just as we push the boundaries of space exploration, seeking new worlds and knowledge, we are now on the #cusp of a digital era that promises to #redefine human existence. Webb's observation that large language models are voraciously consuming internet data and may soon hunger for new sources to sustain AI's path towards Artificial General Intelligence (#AGI) underscores the magnitude of this shift. The anticipated surge of connected devices collecting data at unprecedented scales could feed AI systems in ways we've only begun to imagine. So get ready for a wide range of new toys and devices dropping in the coming years ready to turn you into data on our path toward AGI. Gen T - here we come. What can go wrong. I'll add some more thoughts on this in a later post as its been a very long day and I am hungry :) What is your take on all this? #SpaceExploration #TechnologicalSupercycle #FutureTrends #GenT #ArtificialIntelligence #Biotechnology #ConnectedEcosystems #SpacePodcaster #SXSW2024 #Innovation #DigitalFrontier #AGI #DataRevolution #AmyWebb #FutureOfAI #TechTrends #SpaceAndTech #DigitalEra #ExplorationAndInnovation #SpaceCommunity

Two days of #Supernova for me: Day one, being bummed out about missing day one while at the same time enjoying every minute of the extra quality time spent with my sick baby boy. Day two, being a little starstruck by finally meeting some people from Ideo who share my passion for prototyping instead of creating "jazzhands" slide decks and asking the right questions instead of always trying to have the right answers, so here we go: * "How might we support the mess of prototyping, learning and failing on the way to success at Port of Antwerp-Bruges?" (one of the answers: space monkeys and sea turtles) credits to Clark Scheffy ~ Ideo * "How might we create a runway for big ideas at Port of Antwerp-Bruges?" (one of the answers: find a middle (wo)man to translate between operators and ideators) credits to Tom Domen ~ Made And last but definitely not least, because you should always follow the advice of someone that has literally been on the moon, Charlie Duke ~ Apollo Astronaut: * "How might I inspire my son to go beyond the letters A-Z?" #tothemoonandback #fullcircle

What is NEUROSPACE GmbH? What is our Mission? 🤔 What terrestrial applications can be achieved through our #HiveR platform? 😁 All these questions and more are answered through our CTO Igor Kolek, who found the time for a short interview amidst his busy schedule at the Space Tech Expo Europe. After a lot of exciting deep talks and reunions, it became very clear to us that so many new stakeholders are interested in our mission. We wanted to take this opportunity to offer a brief overview of the company! 🕵♀️ 🚀 Fundamentals and Visions In their first contact with NEUROSPACE GmbH, people are often curious about the variety of possibilities the platform has to offer. Also, there are a lot of general questions about our visions and ideas. ☺️ With this short interview, we hope to answer the most fundamental questions about us and add a little detail to your picture of NEUROSPACE GmbH.🙌 🚀 What do YOU want to know about us? Our CTO Igor is one of the founders and is familiar with every detail of our program. As someone, who accompanied the rover over his whole journey, an interview with him is a special opportunity to ask someone, whose vision had a significant impact. What has Star Trek to do with Future Leadership? Just of the phone with Andreas Schmitz and Dr. Shahzeeb Akhtar discussing their session at the upcoming Salon on April 25th. What can I say? I am getting more and more excited. What has Georg Lukas masterpiece in common with our leadership challenges today? More than you think. 1. Science Fiction is created by possibilities. 2. The hero's journey by Josef Campbell is a must for every leader (all of Lukas films are based on this curve of excitement and storytelling). 3. Just as Yoda, we are greeting everyone into the community of corporate change makers. 4. And yes ... there is the resilient & resistant part. But I don't want to spoil to much. There is only one chance to find out: Join us live with a full body experience at the fabulous creative Space of P3. Kaija Zindel Maria Franke Philipp Tristan Orlet Marcel Weimer Explore with Andreas Schmitz and Dr. Shahzeeb Akhtar how to hack your "Resistance is Futile" to accept what is happening as AI is a given and we steer today how 2300 will look like. And if you really can't make it - and I would think twice, as a day with us is like a trip to Austin for SXSW without the time and travel expenses. https://lnkd.in/eNPa3EQa You can always join our Satellites, Future Matermind and the Sparks right into your inbox. https://lnkd.in/egXGVJr7 See you in Space?

Resistance is futile!? Embrace technology and diversity! Asimov, Dominik, Lucas, Roddenberry, you name it. I am a huge science fiction fan. Why is that? It gives you scenarios and sparks ideas. Of course, sometimes it is just stupid, which is good to relax the brain for a while. But usually you can learn a lot from it. A lot of product development has been inspired by science fiction. There are many leadership lessons. Think about characters like Ellen Ripley, Daenerys Targaryen, Yoda, or one of my favorites, Jean-Luc Picard. And what about corporate culture, organizational design, the future of work, or even DEI? Can science fiction inspire us here too? Dr. Shahzeeb Akhtar and I will take you on a provocative journey exploring past, present and future scenarios of work, fiction and reality. The use of technology will make you a better leader while being your full self. Would you agree and how? Join us and Eve Simon and debate with us at the Future of Leadership Salon - https://lnkd.in/eNPa3EQa Sign up now!
