What is the "meaningfulness" disrupter? It is the sixth disrupter identified in the Pattern of Disruptions detailed in the book, Disruptive Innovation and Digital Transformation. "It targets megatrends (e.g. climate change, sustainability, urbanization, aging) and disparities and inequalities" p. 142 in the book. This disrupter contains attributes that are both gateways and blockers. The latter attributes, addressing "disparities and inequalities," are blocker for certain business models. From a digital transformation perspective, I have spoken with dozens of C Suite leaders. The one common sentiment that comes up again and again is: traditional infrastructures are crumbling under the weight of digital demands. Technology is moving at breakneck speeds, and companies who took the first step towards digital transformation during the pandemic are ahead, and not by an insignificant amount. The Lumen Technologies Tech Trends Report confirms this notion. Businesses have to either innovate or become obsolete. With AI, ML, VR/AR, and IoT at the forefront, the race isn't just for innovation for innovation sake—it's for survival. The report reveals a stark reality: embrace next-gen technologies or watch your competitors eclipse you. It's no longer about gradual digital transformation but a rapid overhaul. Agile (native) development in the cloud + edge-first architectures and the integration of Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) are good first steps in securing strong digital experiences.
