NEVER Keep This Fish Picture this: a marine aquarium, teeming with vibrant, lively fish. Suddenly, a seemingly harmless carpet shark, the Spotted Wobbegong, springs into action. This Australian native, notorious for its lethargy and insatiable appetite, can devour a fish as big as itself in a flash. While it may be tempting to add a dash of the exotic to your aquarium, I would not keep this fish in your aquarium. The Worst Fish To Keep In Your Aquarium Beware of the tasseled or spotted woebegone shark, a marine menace that's a nightmare for aquarium enthusiasts. This deceptive creature, despite its hefty price tag, is notorious for its predatory nature. One moment, you're introducing a new, beautiful fish to your 150-gallon aquarium, the next, it's gone - swallowed whole by this lurking shark. The woebegone shark is a master of disguise, often mistaken for an unassuming pile of debris at the bottom of the tank. But don't be fooled - it's merely biding its time, ready to spring into action at the sight of a fresh meal. In the world of marine aquariums, the woebegone shark is a costly mistake, a lesson learned the hard way. It's a fish that's better off left in the wild, not in your carefully curated underwater world. Hitch Hikers In Your Aquarium Unwanted guests in your aquarium? You might be surprised to find out that your new aquatic plants could be the culprits. Often, snail eggs and other critters hitch a ride on these plants, sneaking into your aquarium unless you've given the plant a thorough rinse or quarantine. Live rock can also be a sneaky invader, with its many holes and caves providing perfect hideouts for various creatures. Remember, these stowaways can survive for quite a while out of water, so that rock from your friend's aquarium might have brought along some unexpected company. Never Buy These 3 Fish Part 2 Snakeheads, piranhas, and channel catfish - these are the three fish you might want to reconsider for your aquarium. Snakeheads, despite their beauty, are known for their aggressive nature and invasive tendencies. They're not the ideal tropical fish for a peaceful aquarium environment. Piranhas, although popular in the Midwest, are illegal in some places. Their reputation precedes them, and it's not for being friendly. Lastly, the channel catfish. A personal anecdote - as a kid, I bought one from Pier 1 Imports, only to watch it grow and consume everything in my aquarium. Remember, a harmonious aquarium is a happy aquarium. The World's First Aquarium Did you know that the art of fish keeping is as old as time itself? From the ancient Hawaiians to the Mesopotamians, people have been creating ponds and keeping fish for thousands of years. Yet, the concept of a true aquarium is relatively new, dating back to the 1850s, thanks to a man named Gosse from Victoria, England. Despite being a fairly young hobby, aquarium keeping has evolved significantly over the years, with numerous theories and practices about maintaining water quality and aeration. 7moAquariums are dicey at best. More worrisome is the state of our coral reefs, which died from watming globally.
