Summer is just around the corner, and the school year is nearly at a close! ☀️ For many families, this means spending time enjoying the season, and cooling off in the pool. Swimming can be great exercise, and a lot of fun! But it's essential to keep safety in mind. Here are a few reminders for the season ahead: 💧 Supervision: Always ensure that children are closely supervised by a responsible adult when they are in or near the pool. Never leave them unattended, even for a short period. Make sure it's clear who is responsible for supervision, and avoid distractions such as phones. 💧 Fencing and Barriers: Install a fence at least 4 feet high around the pool with self-closing and self-latching gates to prevent unsupervised access. Ensure there are no gaps that a child could squeeze through. 💧 Learn CPR: Ensure that at least one person in the household is trained in CPR. In case of an emergency, immediate CPR can be a life-saving measure until professional help arrives. 💧 Swim Lessons: Enroll children in swimming lessons to teach them how to swim and understand basic water safety. However, swimming lessons do not replace the need for supervision. 💧 Pool Rules: Establish and enforce clear pool rules such as no running, no diving in shallow water, no swimming alone, and no swimming without permission. Make sure everyone using the pool is aware of these rules and follows them.
