Stellantis' Strategic Approach Amidst the Influx of Chinese Electric Vehicles Follow me for more technical data :https://lnkd.in/evN3jc94 While the United States and Europe express concerns over the influx of Chinese electric vehicles (EVs), Stellantis is taking a unique stance by contributing to this abundance. As the largest global market for electric cars, China achieved this position through various policies and incentives, including subsidies, tax breaks, and a credit system mandating automakers to meet specific quotas. In response to the increasing export of Chinese EVs, the U.S. has announced significant tariff hikes, with duties on electric vehicles set to rise from 25% to 100%. This move aims to protect American automotive investments and jobs from what are perceived as unfairly priced Chinese vehicles. Similarly, the European Commission has initiated an investigation into Chinese subsidies for EVs, assessing whether these aids constitute illegal subsidies causing or threatening economic harm. Contrary to the growing protectionist measures, Stellantis, formed from the merger of PSA and FCA, has taken a more collaborative approach. The company has partnered with Leapmotor, the ninth-largest EV manufacturer in China, to import and market two Chinese models in nine European countries, including France, starting September 2024. This strategy illustrates Stellantis' openness to cooperation with Chinese industrial players, despite the broader Western apprehension. #Automotive #ElectricVehicles #Stellantis #TradePolicy #China #Innovation #Collaboration
