Leftovers. There is always a use for them... Surplus ingredients in the fridge can make a tasty meal. It’s practical, conscientious, and reduces waste – and it can be delicious, too. Thorlux takes a similar approach to its leftovers, working to make the most of materials and resources. For example, despite the high efficiency of the Thorlux powder coating process, a small amount of paint ends up as waste. To stop this from going to landfill, it is now being collected and reused. Due to the paint plant dealing with a variety of different finishes, the collected powder is a mix of colours. For this reason, Thorlux only uses leftover paint to coat non-visible parts of the luminaire, such as internal components or gear trays. This initiative will save approximately four tonnes of material from landfills each year.
