The immense potential of 3D printing in enhancing the sustainability of mega-infrastructure projects is undeniable! A prime example is Abyan Building Construction Company, who recently completed the world’s first on-site 3D printed large concrete water tanks using our #BOD2 printer. - #3dprinting technology offers the unique advantage of design freedom, which can be leveraged to optimize conventional design structures. This approach enabled a savings of 25% in concrete and reinforcement materials compared to conventional building methods, significantly lowering resource consumption and material waste. - Another approach involves on-site production of concrete using locally-sourced raw materials, enabling a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, mainly by minimizing the need for transportation. A vital element in enabling this process is our #dfab solution, collaboratively developed by COBOD International and Cemex. This innovation makes the concrete mix 3D printable through the integration of specific chemical admixtures, facilitating local production and contributing to overall sustainability. - The efficiency of 3D printing #technology is further underscored by the significantly reduced project completion time. In 3d printing we can control several components of the construction proess. With fast prototyping we can optimize the forms, and in execution we can deliver optimization for the purpose of the design. This designs goals were to use a tilt up, pre printed panels that are then assembled on-site. Sustainability Initiatives: Eco-friendly Innovations: By controlling both components, Gaudi can innovate in eco-friendly concrete mixes and efficient printer designs, contributing to more sustainable construction practices. Waste Reduction: Integrated production allows for better resource management and reduction of waste materials, aligning with sustainability goals.
