Like 67 other Aussies on 28 Nov, I watched the kick-off event for Australia's Age Assurance Trial with interest. One area had me exploring my own understanding. 29 minutes in 3 assurance methods are presented (slide 17): - Verification - Estimation - Inference Estimation is defined on the slide as "Analysis of biological or behavioural features of humans that vary with age". The presenter (Tony Allen) then asserts that this does not mean biometrics since that means identification. This confused me since I would have thought that "analysis of biological or behavioural features" would have required capture and measurement of such features to allow for analysis. Biometrics are, after all (I thought), simply the measurement of biological or behavioural things. The issue seems to be that #NIST, and a few others, have defined biometrics to include what they are AND their use in identification, rather than just what they are: "body measurements". In order to estimate someone's age from their features or behaviour you have to capture data about their features or behaviour. These are their biometrics. Conflating biometrics with identification means that age estimation can be said (confusingly) not to include biometrics. Reassuring for some perhaps, but not strictly true. It is true that age estimation systems should only look at aspects that allow age to be estimated and not to identify, but the raw data initially captured from the sensor will be the same. Your laptop or phone camera doesn't have an "estimate" mode, it has an "on" mode. Tony is absolutely right that age estimation does not mean identification but, amongst the three methods presented, it does mean biometrics. As with many #digitaltrust issues, we need confidence (preferably proof and guarantees) that for any age assurance method the data captured is the minimum required, only used for the agreed purpose, and deleted as soon as possible. This includes biometric data captured for age estimation purposes. The good news is that privacy compliance is one of the things being assessed in the trials. Kudos to the project for making the video and presentation public. #digitaltrust #ageassurance Sezoo

#1 biggest event mistake? Using events to collect emails NOT close deals. When the event KPI is “butts in seats,” Your event is just another expense for the CFO …………………………………………………………………… When is the 1 time the customer is out in the open? The event. This moment is business gold. How to turn your event from cost center to profit center: - Matchmaking & Demos You have all the attendee info. Enrich it with 0 party, 1st and 2nd party data. You have info on the exhibitors / your own products. Match the buyers with the best possible solutions. Facilitate communication: messages, calls, demos - Pre-Event Events Ramp up convos with smaller local satellite events Not only does this start deal flow It also creates bulletproof community - Hammer Home Deals @ Event With matchmaking, intros, demos done, Use the event to engage deeply with the customer Possibly, close the deal! What’s one tip you’d add to getting the most out of your event?

Let’s face it, you’re easy to forget. 🤷 Tradeshow floors are like a zoo. Thousands of people walking in every direction, loud music, puppy barns, sidecar events, this list goes on and on. You can have the perfect prospect matched with the perfect product and pitch. But if you rely on “send me an email after the show and we will schedule a meeting” your opportunity is DEAD. Why not schedule the meeting right then and there? Before they forget about you or get back from the show with a million things to do? Here’s what to do: When you are face to face with your prospect, open Mobly and press the calendar button. Find a day and time that works for them and send the invite. Stay relevant.
