I am thrilled to announce that our subsidiary Colas Rail UK has been entrusted by HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd to bring our world leading high speed experience to deliver their system-wide Overhead Catenary System! As such, we will be in charge of its design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning. It will use the V360 OCS design range under licence from SNCF to develop the next stages of design.   This is the start of a new phase for the HS2 project, where nearly 140 miles of tunnels, bridges, and earthworks between London and the West Midlands will be developed into an operational railway.   Together with our partners and the primary rail systems contractor, we will operate under a collaborative Rail Systems Alliance framework to deliver our shared objectives   We are proud to be part of this emblematic project for the UK.

The Mid-West is becoming the go to place for regional rail maintenance thanks to the Local Manufacturing Investment Fund (LMIF). DIAB Engineering has been awarded $1.8 million in funding to expand its Geraldton based rail maintenance workshop area. The expansion will increase the size of the workshop by 1200 sqm to position itself for winning work in the future and establish the Mid-West as a rail wagon maintenance hub. Do you know how old your elevator is?    Elevator systems typically have 20 to 25-year lifespans while overhead traction elevators have lifespans of about 30 years. Machine room-less (MRL) traction elevators have the shortest lifespans (10 to 15 years).   Eventually, in every elevator’s life it reaches a point where it no longer makes financial or logistical sense to continue repairing. Service calls and repair of damaged components start to get expensive, and worst of all replacement parts become obsolete, expensive, or difficult (if not impossible) to find, and the harder it is to find parts, the longer the elevator will be out of service. These disruptions can be a nightmare for both building owners and elevator passengers. In most cases, the best solution is elevator modernization. Modernization is certainly an investment, but it’s one that pays off. The process can increase the value of your building, improve tenant satisfaction, increase safety, and improve energy efficiency. Tuesday evening Lineas’ client ECS, received a Baanbrekers award in the category ‘Logistics Service Provider’ for contributing to the modal shift. The jury praised ECS' impressive modal shift projects, contributing to reducing CO₂ emissions as well as reducing traffic congestion and increasing road safety.  Back in September, at the request of ECS, Lineas launched a new connection carrying 42 containers back and forth between Zeebrugge and Crailsheim, three times a week. This takes more than 11,000 containers and as many trucks off the road each year, reducing CO2 emissions by an estimated 2,600 tons per year.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬:  Comprehensive Lift Modernisation with the New Voyager Destination Control System for a Corporate Client 🚀 The lift modernisation project at Watford Junction spanned 18 months, involving two separate buildings for the same client. Across these buildings, MKM upgraded a total of 7 lifts, implementing the advanced Lester Controls Voyager Destination Control System (HCD), marking the first time we installed this modern technology. The project was managed by Luke Johnson, with Jake Bingham leading our on-site team. 🔧  𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐔𝐩𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬: This project included the integration of the Voyager destination control system, which significantly improved the efficiency and user experience of the lifts. Additionally, we enhanced safety systems and replaced key mechanical components to ensure long-term reliability. 💪🏼 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐛𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬: One of the main challenges was coordinating the installation across two separate buildings while ensuring minimal disruption to the daily operations of the client. Furthermore, the team had to adapt quickly to the new Voyager system, overcoming the learning curve associated with its advanced features. Despite these hurdles, the project was completed successfully, with the upgraded lifts now delivering improved performance and reliability. ✅ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭: We adopted a well-thought-out strategy that involved detailed planning, a step-by-step rollout, and ongoing engagement with stakeholders. By embracing innovation and maintaining strict quality standards, we effectively overcame both logistical and technical obstacles. The final outcome was an advanced lift system that enhances user satisfaction and boosts operational effectiveness.
