Resistance to change is, unfortunately, very common in all organizations, especially nonprofits. Change can bring feelings of fear and uncertainty from the board chair to newest employee. These negative feelings are what drive people to push back against organizational shifts. While managing resistance to change in an organization falls on the leadership team, it doesn’t have to be a challenge. https://lnkd.in/eM_mRDym @JoeDuffy, @JimMcGuirk, @TerrenceCahill, @YvonneStyles, @GregoryNielsen, @JasonSmith, @AllanWeisberg, @JayWeisman, @JaySuggs, @ShelleyFeist, @JohnVastag, @JoeCosta, @MichaelShriver, @CarolJee, @GladysMiller, @PatrickCollins #nonprofitleadership #nonprofitexecutivesearch #executivesearch #nonprofitsuccessionplanning

We’ve all seen messy moments between executive directors and their boards, right? 🥊like a boxing match 🧑🏫 like watching a teacher in front of a dozing class 🛝 like mean kids on the playground slinging insults And sometimes … It's really magical. 🪄 There’s a connection around purpose, the reason for the meeting, that you’re playing your part in pushing the mission forward. Everyone is fully engaged. Like any good working relationship, each party has to enter with a strong collaborative mindset and with behaviors and processes that support that mindset to achieve success. And like any good relationship, it takes work. Read some of my ideas for how to go about this important work here: https://lnkd.in/dPk_-fqH Interested in learning more about the board / executive director relationship with a cohort of like-minded professionals, sign up for my course: Nonprofit Leadership - Being Prepared and Effective from Day One.
