1st Colonial Senior Vice President Daniel Sulpizio spoke to young adults in Jefferson Health Washington Township's Project SEARCH program, which helps train and secure competitive employment for people with disabilities. Daniel shared his experience and insights on working in the "real world," helping participants understand what to expect when they complete their internships and find employment.

Each year, the Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy's Fund for Experiential Learning provides financial assistance to more than 30 graduate students pursuing meaningful professional experiences and unpaid internships. With generous support from the CVS Health Foundation, McCourt will award eight additional stipends, particularly for military-connected students and those interested in veterans’ affairs and health policy. https://bit.ly/3CLixvV

Utica Community Schools has partnered with Project SEARCH in an endeavor that showcases the limitless potential of our students. The primary objective of Project SEARCH is to secure competitive employment for people with disabilities. Six UCS students have become Project SEARCH interns and are gaining real-life work experience with the City of Sterling Heights. Project SEARCH is a UCS Champion because the program embodies our vision of positively transforming the future for these interns.

Rumor has it Linda McMahon will be named as Trump's Education Secretary. Given McMahon co-founded the America First Policy Institute, we might expect her to advance private school choice and address fentanyl in school, issues re kids online (like sexual predation), and maybe given her personal background, it seems she'd be keen on sports and maybe safety of some sort generally. 🌟 Exciting News: Empowering Homeless Youth Through Apprenticeship Programs! 🌟 I'm thrilled to share my mission to establish a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering homeless youth aged 17-26 by connecting them with American businesses and corporations to launch apprenticeship programs. I envision a future where every young person in America has access to the resources and support they need to thrive, fostering their personal and professional development. Through mentorship, educational opportunities, and essential life skills training, my organization will create a nurturing environment that encourages resilience and self-sufficiency. By collaborating with businesses, we aim to create a brand-new talent pool sourced from these young individuals, providing them with hands-on experience and pathways to sustainable employment. This year, Apprentice Learning has introduced over 300 8th and rising 9th grade students in #bostonpublicschools to their first workplace experiences and paid summer jobs. What is the Future Center Program? The Future Centers are a career and college guidance program working with high school students and non-traditional students to transition them into the next phase of life. In partnership local school systems, Future Center locations are on high school campuses where students have access to additional resources to have intentional conversations and develop an actionable plan for life after high school. Services are also available for homeschool students and non-traditional students looking to explore opportunities in higher education and/or post-secondary career paths. We are working with students to navigate the college, tech, or trade school process to include: Applying for financial aid through FAFSA, college selection assistance - (cost comparisons of the student’s school selection) College applications/essays, EF scholarship application process – (application close TOMORROW), nation-wide scholarship searches and coordinating college prep workshops. In addition, for students entering the workforce or military directly after graduation, we are helping them prepare by, creating a resume, job searching, making introductions to company leaders in collaboration with Bartow County Chamber, setting career goals, identifying transferable skills exploring training opportunities for learned skills, seeking possible co-ops and/or internship programs with local businesses and communicating with military recruiters. We believe it’s important to discuss how and if you want to contribute to your kid’s college fund. There are a lot of creative ways to approach this. 🤜You could pay a portion of their education. 🤜You could require that they apply for a certain amount of scholarships each semester. 🤜You could purchase a rental property for your child to live in for free while in college and have them manage renting out the extra rooms. 🤜They could take as many college classes as possible in high school. Many high schoolers now graduate with an associate’s degree. 🤜Look into community colleges, state schools, trade schools, internships. What creative approaches have you tried or are planning on trying to keep college costs low?
