From lunch boxes to car dashboards, many products are made from ABS polymer recyclate. Thanks to TNO's Möbius dissolution technology, we can recycle this type of #plastic efficiently, environmentally friendly, and economically viable. Together with ELIX Polymers SL, we have developed a method to cleanly dissolve ABS plastics by dissolution into usable raw materials. To prove that we can establish a circular production loop with this method, we collaborated with Electrolux Group to reuse the recovered polymer in washing machine doors. Discover more about this project in the TO2 federation magazine in a interview with researcher Mark Roelands👇 Or read more about our innovative recycling method here > https://tno.to/0hd #circulareconomy #technology

𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 ♻ On 14 June last year, over 120 experts, partners, stakeholders and academics from the field of circular plastics gathered at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. They were there to formulate the next steps needed to close the #plastics value chain before 2050. The most important insights were as follows: 🧪 Polymer science has a lot to contribute to mechanical recycling at micro-level 💻 AI will be key to "perfect sorting" ♻ Closed loops will become the future, in which supply and demand will be controlled 🧩 A systemic approach is needed to solve the puzzle 🤝🏻 But most importantly; foster collaboration: bring the whole chain in one room and align needs and challenges. Read the full recap of the previous edition here » https://lnkd.in/enJ67DTk At the Circular Plastics Conference 2024, we will 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝘁 on what's next in plastic recycling. We address the entire value chain from an international perspective and focus on the #technological, #logistic, and #societal challenges lying ahead. #Polymers! They are everywhere and compose most of our #Plastics goods. Recycling polymers ♻ presents multiple challenges with sorting and effectively separating the different components as to maintain their unique qualities. This is the prerequisite for high performing #Recyclates that can serve the industry in reaching #Circularity while maintaining their quality standards. PRIMUS Project EU is a research project involving a consortium of 12 partners including technological centres, universities and industries, with the aim to develop new polymer #recycling #technologies. So far the project has developed four prototypes for use in the automotive and appliance sectors, proving that it is possible to integrate high-performing recycled polymers into industrial applications without compromising safety or quality. Did you know that black plastic is one of the hardest materials to recycle? Traditional sorting methods often miss it because of its light-absorbing properties. In our recent article with Mathieu Marmion, we dive into how MWIR hyperspectral imaging (HSI) technology is changing the game, providing a solution for black plastic sorting. A detailed white paper is also available for those looking for more in-depth information. Link in the comment below 👇 So excited about the capabilities of this technology and how it can help solve future waste challenges. #Recycling #Sustainability #MWIR #Specim #HyperspectralImaging #CircularEconomy
