Did you know the Earth once experienced a dramatic warming event called the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM) 56 million years ago? This period saw massive carbon dioxide release into the atmosphere, pushing global temperatures up by 5-8°C. Shocking, right? Guess what? The annual rate of carbon emissions today is five times greater than during the PETM. To understand these concepts better, I'm on a training programme called 'Managing Corporate Sustainability' with EcoLearn. This course equips me with the knowledge and tools to: a) Understand the critical link between climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, and planetary boundaries. b) Navigate the international framework for tackling climate change. c) Master strategies to achieve carbon neutrality within organisations. d) Identify both risks and opportunities companies face in a changing climate. My goal? To become an expert in implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategies and empower businesses to become a force for positive change. We, individually and organisationally, have a responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint. Simple actions among many others include: 1. Promote sustainable commuting. 2. Reduce energy consumption 3. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. 4. Buy only what you need and avoid impulse purchases. 5. Reduce your meat consumption, even for just one day a week. Are you ready to join the sustainability journey? Let's connect and discuss how we can help navigate the path towards a more sustainable future. #ClimateChange #Sustainability #ESG #ParisAgreement #ClimateAction #NetZero #CarbonNeutral #ClimateRisk #ClimateOpportunity #SustainabilityRevolution #ESGExpert #ConsultForGood

The Science Behind Climate Change and Net Zero: Our Path to a Sustainable Future The science is clear—human activities have intensified climate change, and reaching net zero is essential to stabilize global temperatures. Here’s how science supports our understanding of climate change and the role of net zero in our fight to protect the planet: Greenhouse Effect Amplified: Human-induced emissions have heightened the natural greenhouse effect, trapping excess heat in the atmosphere. Since the industrial era, atmospheric CO₂ levels have risen by 50%, leading to an increase in global temperatures. Rising Global Temperatures: The Earth’s average temperature has already warmed by 1.1°C compared to pre-industrial levels, primarily due to emissions from fossil fuels. If current trends continue, we’re on track to exceed the 1.5°C threshold by the 2030s, risking severe climate impacts. Net Zero as a Climate Solution: Net zero means reducing emissions to as close to zero as possible, with any remaining emissions balanced by carbon removal solutions. Achieving net zero by 2050 can help limit global warming and prevent irreversible environmental damage. The Role of Carbon Sinks: Natural carbon sinks like forests and oceans currently absorb about 50% of CO₂ emissions, but they’re under threat from deforestation, pollution, and climate change. Preserving and restoring these ecosystems is critical to achieving net zero. Carbon Capture Technologies: Carbon capture and storage (CCS) offers a way to trap up to 90% of emissions from industrial processes. These technologies are essential to achieving net zero, especially in sectors where emissions are harder to eliminate. Global Net Zero Commitments: Over 130 countries have committed to net zero goals, underscoring a global recognition of the urgent need to address climate change. Collaborative efforts across sectors and nations are pivotal to drive this transformation. Science underscores the importance of urgent, collective action. Achieving net zero isn’t just a goal—it’s a scientific imperative to safeguard our planet’s future. #ClimateScience #NetZero #ClimateChange #CarbonEmissions #CarbonCapture #GreenhouseEffect #RenewableEnergy #EcoInnovation #SustainableFuture #CarbonReduction #GlobalCommitment #NetZeroGreenBharat #CarbonHydrogenX
