🌟 Just wrapped up an incredible week at the VivaTech 2024 Summit in Paris with Enguerrand TURCAT and Titouan Verhille! 🌍 This year, Japan was honored as the country of the year, and I had the unique opportunity to engage with numerous Japanese companies on site and discuss innovative IT solutions. 💻 🇯🇵 One of the most exciting moments was witnessing a live intervention by the Prime Minister of Japan, 岸田 文雄 (Fumio Kishida), and engaging with the Japanese delegation present there! 🙌 It was a remarkable experience to gain insights directly from leaders who are shaping the future of technology. 💬 I also had the chance to see Hiroshi Mikitani, chairman and CEO of Rakuten Group Inc., who shared his vision on the future of technology and business concerning mobile networks in the AI age. His presence added significant value to the discussions and highlighted Japan's leading role in the tech world. 🏢 💼 Japan has always been at the forefront of technological innovation, and this summit reinforced its position as a country of great interest for the future. 🌐 The networking opportunities were invaluable, opening doors to potential job opportunities and collaborations with some of the leading minds in the industry. 🤝 💡 VivaTech was a treasure trove of new technologies and cutting-edge innovations, particularly in the realm of AI. 🤖 I had the privilege of attending inspiring conferences featuring renowned speakers like Yann LeCun from Meta, among many others. Reflections from Africa Tech Festival 2024: Insights and Inspiration Attending Africa Tech Festival 2024 was an energising and thought-provoking experience. It wasn’t just about presenting or sitting in on panels—it was a chance to connect with like-minded people, share ideas, and reflect on how businesses can stay ahead in a fast-changing world. The festival also reaffirmed the role we play at COOi Studios in helping businesses tackle challenges and unlock opportunities using design thinking, data insights, and human-centred approaches. Key Takeaways 1. People Are the Core of Innovation Technology gets a lot of attention, but it’s the people behind it who make it work. A strong, well-aligned team is essential for bringing ideas to life. At COOi Studios, we’ve seen how fostering collaboration and creativity allows teams to thrive and deliver real results. 2. Design Thinking is a Must Embedding design thinking into businesses can make all the difference. By focusing on the human experience, it’s possible to uncover the real challenges and craft solutions that resonate. It’s a practical approach that benefits both startups and large enterprises looking to stay competitive. 3. Big Data Needs Big Purpose The potential of big data is undeniable, but it only matters when applied meaningfully. Whether it’s improving safety in mining or creating better customer experiences, aligning data with clear objectives ensures it delivers value. 4. Turning Nerves into Action Standing in the crowd and watching the centre stage fill up before my session was a moment I won’t forget. It was nerve-wracking, but also a reminder of how much I care about this work. Once I got started, the focus shifted to sharing our insights and engaging with the audience, which made the experience incredibly rewarding. 5. Connection Drives Growth The conversations—whether during sessions or in between them—were a highlight of the event. They underscored the importance of collaboration and how much we can learn from each other when we take the time to engage. Looking Ahead Africa Tech Festival was a reminder of how much innovation can happen when people come together to share ideas and expertise. I’m excited to take these insights forward and continue contributing to projects that put people at the centre of transformation.
