This is a message to all you Tree Professionals 🌲 🌳 I just had an awesome chat with Kurt Stenberg from Atmostree tonight. Atmostree is a regenerative alliance for arborists that plants more trees than removed. It is a 2:1 tREeCYCLE Program that arborists can get involved with, where the for every tree removed, two trees will be planted. Arborists can get involved with Atmostree at no cost to them. How the alliance works is for every tree removed through their business, a $25 fee (to the client) will go towards Atmostree. This fund is allocated towards the cost of the trees to be planted and the labour, land acquisition, etc. to plant them. It is a great organization and I think that Kurt has the potential to grow this thing huge! If you are in the tree business, I strongly encourage you to check out the website and contact them. We all have a role in taking actionable steps to live a more sustainable life but how can we each do our part? Where do we start? Information on steps to modify our waste disposal, improve biodiversity, and reduce our emissions can be difficult to find, and even more difficult to act on. That’s why Eco leap partnered with the Town of North Hempstead, New York for the Go Green North Hempstead TV Series to present clear and engaging learning modules that educate the public about community resources, practices, and principles for sustainability. The Go Green NH Series is designed to help residents embrace practical lifestyle changes and learn about easy steps to take care of the planet while having fun doing it! The first Three Episodes cover a series of topics broken down for easy viewing: Plant Native for the Planet: This episode focuses on native plant gardening, its benefits and plant types, and how to maintain them. Growing plants that belong to the local area is important for reducing stress on our natural resources, reducing the cost of maintenance for lawn care, and building a living relationship with a garden that benefits both the environment and the gardener. Know What to Throw:  This episode uncovers how to dispose of trash and recycle correctly in the Town of North Hempstead and warns of the dangers to Manhasset Bay when mistakes are made. The episode features “Harbor the Heron,” an Eco Leap created animated character designed by Michelle Shain that helps viewers empathize and visualize the threat to wildlife and the environment when recycling and waste aren’t disposed of properly. Car Free Challenge: This episode, narrated by Councilwoman Mariann Dalimonte and Sustainable Transportation expert Rosemary Mascali takes the Car Free Challenge and shares ways residents can move around without a car including walking, The Long Island Rail Road and PedalShare Inc.
