The Universal Manipulation Interface (UMI) lets robots learn tasks directly from human demonstrations, using affordable equipment. With cobots from Universal Robots and a gripper with a GoPro, UMI collects visual data to teach robots tasks like dishwashing, folding, and even tossing objects. Portable and easy to use, UMI allows fast data collection, making it adaptable to new tasks and environments.

Just take a look at this. It's crazy. Ray Kurzweil, AI Visionary at Google, recently did a podcast with Joe Rogan. He had a lot to say about the "exponential growth" of technology and artificial intelligence. After 40 years of almost agonizingly slow progress, most of which took place entirely under the radar, we're now hitting a massive growth spike in approach of what Ray calls the "Singularity" event - a state in which AI and humanity merge into one. Ray has been doing this for several decades. I don't talk about this type of thing often, but his predictions are bewildering. He mentioned that the next ten years could mean reprogramming cancer cells, powering the whole world with solar, and even ending the aging process altogether. As much as I want to scrutinize these claims, most things sound insane until someone or something accomplishes them. The Wright Brothers had to fly the first biplane, after all. I strongly encourage you to take a listen while you're going about your business this evening. There should be no doubt that we're deep in the bell curve of exponential progress right now. You are alive to witness it. This type of innovation, transpiring on a weekly if not daily basis, is frankly absurd in the best possible way. The manner in which this particular tech will help differently abled individuals live is definitely something worth celebrating. NVIDIA's Blackwell is one of those developments. It is the next era's foundational step. The next era is generative software (vs pre-recorded software). I'd highly encourage you to watch the whole presentation by Jensen Huang, NVIDIA's CEO from NVIDIA's 2024 GTC (GPU Technology Conference).
