On this day, we commemorate the courage and sacrifice of those who fought on D-Day, June 6, 1944. The beaches of Normandy witnessed an extraordinary display of courage and commitment as Allied soldiers started a vital offensive against fascist tyranny. Many of those brave troops came from North Carolina, and their dedication and valor helped to make this historic mission a success. D-Day is more than just a historical event; it is a stark warning of the stakes when democracy is threatened. Today, as we see the consolidation of worldwide fascist authoritarian movements, the lessons of D-Day are more relevant. These groups undermine the basic principles of democracy, encouraging hatred and division rather than unity and freedom. My work with the Bridging Divides Initiative includes researching, monitoring, and analyzing authoritarian and antidemocratic movements. The sacrifices made by troops on D-Day are a source of hope and a call to action for all of us. We must be watchful, defend democratic values, and ensure that the liberties for which they fought so bravely are preserved for future generations. In North Carolina, a state with a strong history of service and sacrifice, we are inspired by those who have come before us. Their legacy urges us to resist oppression and work ceaselessly for a society governed by democracy, fairness, and equality. Let us honor their legacy by recommitting to the ongoing struggle for liberty and democracy. #DDay #NeverForget #Democracy #NorthCarolina #Veterans #Freedom #BridgeDivides

On this 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion to rescue Europe from evil, this call to awareness and action from Kentucky’s senior U.S. senator should be read and re-read. Though easy to ignore eight decades later, the post-WW2 truisms remain crystal clear: ▫️Totalitarianism anywhere threatens freedom and free enterprise everywhere. ▫️Our economic security and our national security are inseparable. ▫️Strength deters. ▫️Alliances with other democracies are vital to our national interest. ▫️We must grow America’s arsenal of democracy, our defense industrial base. ▫️In the long twilight struggle between good and evil, between democracy and dictatorship, America remains the indispensable nation for the Free World. #NeverForget 🇺🇸

Consider the power and influence of a regional superpower, capable of exerting its will upon smaller nations. As with Putin's expansionist agenda, a strategic incorporation of neighboring territories such as Bahrain, Armenia, and Azerbaijan could bolster our nation's prestige, security, and resource-base. Imagine a unified land mass, rich in natural resources and cultural diversity, and ready to take its rightful place as a dominant force in global politics.

Saying the quiet parts out loud. Stop defending him. This wasn’t just any slip. This is a Freudian slip. THIS is what he believes, what Harris believes. I think he regrets saying it out loud. But make NO mistake he believes it. And this is Biden’s both strategy and ideology. The Republicratic party wants ISR to expand. Because ISR is part of the US. It’s a US colony. It’s why we keep funding it. Why we let our citizens go serve in its army. ISR is a US state. It’s the last frontier of this Empire that’s able to steal land on behalf of the US. And demonizing Muslims/Arabs/Palestinians is how they’re manufacturing consent for this final land grab. The plan is to take over a good part of the Middle East. #truth #lies #history #change #media #news

Post 36.27 Thus spoke the military Peace Oracle on tactics on RTPPK channel-5: introduction PART 2, on how EU and UN prevent wars more effectively & efficiently. Hea päev, I am Tara Margit, junior lieutenant reservist of the Estonian Defence Forces, Maavägi, Army. At the Purple PeaceKeepers (PPK) I lead a liaison reconnaissance team and speak on Reality TV (RT) programs where we carry out 'EU-Filmthis …-assignments. In this post I introduce part 2 of series 36 with: ‘how we think tactically about the phenomenon of war’, and ‘how we think tactically about Peace’. Both tactical topics arise from the strategy determined by the European Union within the framework of the 17 sustainability goals of the United Nations. War and Peace are viewed by us in a broad sense, taking place in each of the 17 reality domains. This is (among others): Military, States in relation to each other; At home/on the street, from person to person; within Climate/Environment/Biodiversity; Human, hunger; Social, poverty; Care, health/prosperity; Justice; Economy; Industry and Trade. Refugees and Displaced Persons are also directly linked to war and Peace. You can keep them out of your country borders or throw them back across them, but you do not solve anything causally. Every war is ‘hybrid’ and requires adaptability for Peace. We mirror that. War is inherently connected to Man by nature. The cause of this is the ‘mind of nature’ that governs this planet. On the other hand, Peace is also naturally connected to the nature of Man: inner Peace through the ‘nature of the mind’. Think of love-compassion-joy-equanimity. The Peace that RTPPK advocates is the middle way by FORESEEING and thereby preventing wars. The mirrored cultivation of wisdom does not generate power, but strength. We are not talking about goat wool socks in sandals who perform Don Quixote actions with religious moralism! These posts share knowledge to bring happiness to as many People, citizens as possible in this 21st century via a new innovative Social Medium. Commemorating D-Day: A Day of Heroism and Sacrifice On this day in 1944, over 156,000 Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy in a courageous effort to liberate Europe from Nazi occupation. Here are some remarkable facts about D-Day: 1. Operation Overlord: D-Day was the largest seaborne invasion in history, known as Operation Overlord. It marked the beginning of the end for Nazi Germany. 2. The Beaches: The invasion targeted five beaches: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword. Each beach was assigned to different Allied forces, with the Americans landing on Utah and Omaha, the British on Gold and Sword, and the Canadians on Juno. 3. Massive Planning: The operation required months of meticulous planning and coordination. The Allies even created dummy tanks and fake radio transmissions to mislead the Germans about the invasion's location. 4. Weather Delays: Originally scheduled for June 5th, bad weather forced General Eisenhower to postpone the invasion by a day, showcasing the importance of timing and conditions in military strategy. 5. Paratroopers and Gliders: Before the beach landings, about 24,000 paratroopers and glider troops were dropped behind enemy lines to secure key positions and disrupt German defenses. 6. Casualties: The bravery of the Allied forces came at a high cost. Estimates suggest around 4,414 Allied troops lost their lives on D-Day, with thousands more wounded or missing. 7. Artificial Harbors: To support the landing forces, the Allies constructed two artificial harbors known as Mulberries. These were crucial in unloading vast amounts of men, vehicles, and supplies onto the beaches. 8. The Longest Day: The events of D-Day have been immortalized in various films and books, most famously in the 1962 film "The Longest Day," which captures the epic scale and heroism of the invasion. Today, we honor the incredible bravery and sacrifice of all who participated in D-Day. Their courage laid the foundation for the freedom many of us enjoy today. 🌺🕊️ #DDay #RememberingDDay #WWII #Heroes #Honor #AmaroLawFirm #AmaroInjuryLawyers #JusticeDriven

The 80th anniversary of D-Day has personal meaning for countless people around the world. For me, I think about my father's family fleeing the Nazi Holocaust; about my great-grandparents who died in the camps; about the soldiers who went to war to fight this monstrous, inhuman tyranny; about the citizens and communities who supported the war effort back home; and about the leaders who stood strong in the face of aggression. This day is not just about history. As surviving veterans and democratic leaders wisely remind us this week, the defence of democracy must be a preoccupation of the present. It's astonishing that any politician in any major democracy would dispute the urgency of giving #Ukraine the means to defend itself - or investing in defence and deterrence, or keeping our solemn commitments to our NATO allies. Or that some would admire, defend or collude with hostile foreign powers bent on destabilizing democracies. It's equally astonishing that any citizen of good character would consider electing authoritarian populist strongmen (yes, they are almost always male) who would tear down the institutions that allowed democracy to take root widely and thrive in the decades following the war we remember today. With democratic values under threat all over the world, this day matters not just to the millions of families touched by its history; it matters to billions more -- to every citizen of every democracy, everywhere. #lestweforget #democracy #DDay

In a world marked by the shadows of perpetual conflict, the phenomenon of war stands as both a harrowing reality and a paradoxical enterprise. Dangerous wars, fueled by deep-seated grievances and relentless power struggles, create an environment where human suffering seems inescapable. Yet, within this cycle of violence lies an insatiable appetite for profit, transforming war into a lucrative business for many. From arms manufacturers to private military contractors, the financial incentives often overshadow the devastating consequences for societies caught in the crossfire. As we delve into the complex interplay between never-ending conflicts and the thriving war economy, we are compelled to confront the moral implications of a world that appears to profit from its own discord. Let us hope and wish that peace should prevail for the benefit of humankind.

The world needs fresh ideas and a new type of politics and politicians, representing mankind as a whole and each of us as equals instead of fragmented political interests! We have to grow together in order to urgently address the issues that impact all of us like conflict, climate change, inequality and forced migration together. This we can only do without any dominance, as equals. Collectively in Solidarity. www.convergence.ngo & www.pax.ngo

#NationalPOWMIARecognitionDay remembers and honors those Americans who were prisoners of war and who served and never returned home. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) is responsible for providing the “fullest possible accounting for our missing personnel from past conflicts to their families and the nation.” The DPAA searches for those missing from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, the Gulf Wars, and other recent conflicts. More than 81,000 American personnel are currently listed as Missing in Action. The DPAA estimates that almost 39,000 are recoverable, with the others being lost at sea. In the 2023 Presidential Proclamation on National POW/MIA Recognition Day, President Biden wrote, “Above the White House and the United States Capitol — and at military bases, memorials, cemeteries, and homes across America — we fly the POW/MIA flag, and we remember what it represents: the thousands of spouses, parents, sons, daughters, and loved ones who served and sacrificed for our freedom and future; loved ones who mourn with unanswered questions still in their hearts; and the debt of gratitude we owe them that we can never fully repay. We cannot and must not forget our obligation to our unreturned heroes — no matter how long it takes.” Learn more about the DPAA and their ongoing recovery effortshttps://lnkd.in/eQhNKmwb #OurPromise

Are we too quick to accept war as necessary? In the face of escalating conflicts, especially those involving powerful nations, the narrative often shifts to justification. But have we, with all our advancements, truly learned when violence is justified? This question has haunted military leaders for millennia. As early as the 5th century BC, "The Art of War" grappled with the ethical complexities of violence. Wu Tzu, a revered strategist, offered timeless standards: "To strike in reliance on numbers is oppression. To raise the standard for reasons of anger is a war of revenge. To quit propriety, and seize advantage is tyranny. When the state is disordered and the people worn out, to harbour designs, and set a multitude in motion, is a war of unrighteousness." What can we do to break the cycle of cultural, structural, and direct violence that war perpetuates?
