This definitely works when done properly, it's why JustGiving has sharing built-in Your success with the method we outline in this post depends a lot on three things: 1️⃣ How you make your requests When someone donates to your digital fundraising campaign, signs-up to take part in a challenge, or buys a ticket to your charity ball, and you ask them to encourage three people they know to do the same, you have to pitch it perfectly in order to motivate action. Lean in to how it will help you achieve your goals and help more people. 2️⃣ How easy it for them to do The easier you make it for people to invite others, the more likely they are to do it. if you can find a way to make it click-of-a-button simple (or as close to that as possible) more of your supporters will take action for you. 3️⃣ The way they ask others Then there's how they ask others. The language they use and the mechanism for doing so are crucial. We've developed the tools needed to maximise the chances of success with this approach that we call The Power of 3, and know exactly which buttons to press 👉🔘 in order to get people taking action. Incidentally, it works for other situations too: Want existing customers to make word-of-mouth recommendations for you? Use a modified version of this approach. Need signatures on a petition to drive social change? Use it for that too (this is where we first practised it). Looking for a new job? You can use a variation on this theme among your LinkedIn connections. It's pretty versatile, and it works consistently across all these different applications because they psychology behind it is the same. The core of any fundraising campaign is its goal. Be transparent about how much money you intend to raise and track your progress throughout the campaign via the fundraising goal progress bar. . Showing the target AND how close you are to achieving it can motivate people to donate more. . 🔑KEY: While you could set a goal far beyond your needs, being as accurate and realistic as possible creates a more convincing reason for people to give. For instance, if you only need $100 to meet your goal, and you reach $90, someone might be more compelled to step in to close the gap than if you’d set your goal for $1,000,000, which may make them feel like their contribution won’t make a difference. .
