Today, XPRIZE released it's Top 100 companies for #CarbonRemoval innovation. Big congratulations to the winners, many of whom are friends. But I have one small (ok maybe major) bone to pick... based on my quick read, not a single one focused on protecting intact or restoring degraded natural habitats. Not a single one! What if we took a second to reflect that innovation shouldn't just apply to technology? What if we focused our innovation on policy, and creating the right incentives to drive more resources towards funding the most effective and scaleable technology that has ever existed? 🌿 Intact ecosystems 🌳 Should Xprize have policy innovators highlighted, celebrated and supported right alongside the commercialists and technologists? Should they have focused more on protecting and restoring ecosystems as a carbon removal innovative solution? I'm all for innovation in technology and trying to do carbon removal at scale. And there will be a role for engineered and semi-engineered/nature carbon removal solutions, but our societies infatuation and glorification with technological innovation in absence of policy, social and maybe even cultural innovation is one that I don't think will serve us well today or in the long run. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/d2EyV_vp

Over the past few decades, we've witnessed the devastating impact of deforestation, with millions of acres of lush, vibrant ecosystems being cleared for various purposes. This alarming trend not only destroys the natural habitats of countless species but also contributes to climate change, soil erosion, and the disruption of vital water cycles. It's time we take action to protect and restore our precious forests and oceans and finally Earth before it's too late. NATO or other Organizations are also responsible for protecting our forests and oceans and all humanity with peace . They should respect to all thoughts without considering racism and finally developing to keep our planet Earth . We have no other place to live as alternative except Earth . Let’s young leaders control future of our planet. NATO and other Organizations related are responsible to bring peace not to manufacturing war guns and tools . We are all in one ship . Please don’t make hole our ship .

Last Wednesday, Andy Roberts of Bruntwood SciTech hosted an enlightening event at CityLab. It was a fantastic gathering focused on how ESG and B Corp can serve as powerful enablers for life science businesses. The panel featured industry experts including Kathy Hobbs of RSM, Ben Davies of Praetura Ventures, Simon Lewis of Brabners, and Alistair Williamson of Lucid Group. We delved into discussions about how SMEs are taking the lead in establishing ESG and BCorp as benchmarks for a company’s ability to uphold high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. This commitment is yielding significant business benefits, especially in highly regulated industries like life sciences. One key takeaway was the importance of embedding good ESG practices early in a company’s lifecycle to set a strong, sustainable culture. It was inspiring to hear how many SMEs have made considerable progress in this area, often without fully realizing the extent of their advancements. 🔍 Looking forward to participating in more discussions on ESG in life sciences.
