TMNT 1v1 Arena - The Showdown Begins! 🐢🔥 I've been working on a TMNT-themed 1v1 arena game in Unreal Editor for Fortnite. It’s got the fast-paced PvP action you’d expect, combined with classic TMNT vibes. Players can pick up iconic weapons like the katana, sai, nunchaku, and staff, all while competing for the highest score. Here's what you can expect: ▶ 1v1 Battles with iconic weapons like the katana, sai, nunchaku, and staff. ▶ Score-based system where points are earned by taking down your opponent. ▶ Power-ups from NPC enemies that boost damage, healing, or shields, adding a unique layer of strategy. UEFN in Fortnite is fascinating. Here's a quick TLDR: - UEFN means "Unreal Engine Fortnite" - (Almost) anybody can make and publish a Fortnite map experience - Unreal Engine tools make it "easy" (You don't need specific video game development or Verse programming experience) - These maps can make lots of money $$ based on player popularity and engagement In Re: Reed's post, Yes, people are recreating Jimmy's videos but they're more or less the same game with a different physical environment. Default zombies and same "100 levels" concept. It's so wild to me how a single map creator can have the blueprint for the game, slap a MrBeast thumbnail on it, and make $100k+/per month in the grocery store example. Of course things aren't perfect -- and we shouldn't expect them to be. Creative 2.0 (UEFN) feels like a true wild wild west...and I'm very excited to see how it all materializes over the next few years. It's amazing to see Fortnite tap into the creator economy like this and contribute 40% of net revs from the item shop... This whole thing feels like a mashup of early youtube and youtube right now. You've got the flashy headline/thumbnail/title to get players, but most of these games are pretty basic (boxfight, zone wars, etc).

🎯 Hitting 5 million plays on our hit game in Fortnite has taught us a valuable lesson about the changing behavior of the Fortnite userbase. 🎮 Our bodycam game is a hyperrealistic game mode that initially was seen as a “flash in the pan” but three weeks later not only going strong but actually growing our playerbase. 🔫 The gameplay looks and feels nothing like traditional Fortnite, and yet our playerbase, retention, and average session time is increasing day over day.  Does this imply that the Fortnite player base is slowly becoming more open to new experiences?  Is their Rizz increasing?    🌄 We’re the first realistic FPS in Fortnite to gain significant traction and we won’t be the last. #fortnite #ugc

Ubisoft is optimistic when it comes to the GaaS model, and its latest arena shooter is a good example of that. Since XDefiant, the FPS free-to-play shooter came out on May 21, 2024, it has managed to attract a very impressive 11 million players. The game achieved that milestone in just over a month, according to Yves Guillemot, the company's CEO. Besides that, the game is also Ubisoft's first title to reach one million players after two and a half hours from its launch, and then gain 300,000 concurrent cross-platform players in the first two days on the market. XDefiant is now in its second month and Ubisoft hopes that the ongoing Season One keeps the players engaged. Guillemot believes that the long-term future brings further optimization based on player feedback, which could allow XDefiant to reach the holy grail of GaaS titles - becoming a true competitive esport. However, the Ubisoft team will have to do a lot more to improve the current state of the game. With mixed reviews, where XDefiant holds 69% percent on Metacritic and only 2.9 out of 5.0 for Audience ratings, this shooter has to iron out a range of problems before it can take on other heavyweight FPS esports games out there.
