I'm proud to have been quoted in a recent article about AI and it's impact on search. Because it's something we should all be talking about. Maybe I'm in the minority, but from my perspective SEO is (and has always been) about change. Successful SEOs spend less time clutching their pearls and more time learning to adapt to it. If you're looking at AI, and specifically how it's changing the search landscape today, it's my humble opinion that you need to adapt to survive. And really-it's not all that hard to do. I've said for years that the majority of what works in SEO is common sense. The better you understand the tech that drives the platform you're optimizing for, the easier it is to apply that common sense mentality to your work. AI is just another new thing in the SEO space, and it can be friend or foe. That depends on how you look at it. The Impact of Google AI Overviews on Search Visibility A recent analysis of over 120,000 search queries reveals that 75% of the links cited in Google's AI Overview come from the top 12 organic rankings. As AI Overviews and featured snippets now occupy up to 75.7% of screen real estate, gaining visibility and clicks on Google Search is becoming increasingly challenging. Key Insights from the Report: a.) AI Overviews appear on 47.4% of queries. b.) Combined with featured snippets, they occupy 75.7% of mobile screen real estate and 67.1% on desktop. c.) AI Overviews are more common for informational queries (59%), while less so for commercial queries (19%). While ranking within the top 12 organic positions increases the chances of being included in an AI Overview, the true factor is likely the semantic similarity between your content and the AI-generated summary. Content that aligns closely with the searcher's intent has a better chance of being featured. What does this mean for SEO? Understanding how cosine similarity affects AI Overviews can provide valuable insights for optimizing content. By ensuring your content aligns with what Google deems the "best" answer for a query, you may increase your chances of being featured. #SEO #GoogleSearch #AIOverviews #DigitalMarketing #SearchEngineOptimization #ContentStrategy #EcommerceSEO

The Future of Online Search: Will AI Make SEO Obsolete? The rise of generative AI in search engines like Google, Bing, and others is transforming the way we search online. Instead of browsing through links, AI will provide detailed answers to our queries. This shift could have a significant impact on the $68 billion SEO industry, making it obsolete. Websites and content providers have long used search engine optimization (SEO) strategies to increase their visibility in search results. However, with AI-generated answers, users will have less need to browse through these listings, rendering SEO efforts useless. Search engines will need to adapt to this new landscape, and it's unclear how the SEO industry will survive. The financial impact is significant, with the SEO industry projected to reach $129.6 billion by 2030. But what do you think? Will AI-generated answers revolutionize online search, or will users still rely on traditional search methods? Let us know what you think below. 👇 #SEO #GenerativeAI #OnlineSearch #FutureOfSearch #AIInnovation

How will Google’s new AI Overviews impact your SEO traffic? Will this torpedo your traffic? Boost it? Something in between? + One theory is that AI Overviews make it easier for searchers to find things, encouraging them to search Google for more things and increase overall organic search traffic (yay!). - The opposing theory is that AI Overviews give searchers a satisfactory answer to their question, so they won’t need to click through to your website, decreasing your organic search traffic (boo!). ~ I suspect the truth lies in the middle. Old, general, simple searches will be sufficiently answered by AI Overviews—expect to lose traffic from your high-traffic / ToFu / short-head searches. But searchers will start asking new, specific, complex questions they couldn’t before (where there’s no SEO competition)—shift your SEO strategy toward low-traffic / BoFu / long-tail searches. Google’s recent I/O event also unveiled many other changes to search that will impact your SEO. I’ll explain each one in future posts—follow me for more. Google AI Overviews now show for signed-out users in the US Google has expanded its AI Overviews feature, making it available to all users in the U.S., even if they're not signed into a Google account. While Google claims that AI Overviews will benefit content creators, skepticism remains regarding their actual impact on click behavior. As AI Overviews become more prevalent, SEO tools are expected to better track their performance, prompting a need for publishers to adapt their strategies. AI is reshaping SEO in 2025. But not how you might think. I've spent the last year analyzing Google AI Overviews. Here's what I've learned: 1. CTR for AI Overviews is skyrocketing 2. But Google isn't sharing that data in Search Console 3. Informational queries are becoming "no-click" searches 4. High-quality, conversion-focused traffic is more valuable than ever The winners? Sites with: • Rock-solid technical foundations • Genuinely helpful, expert content • Strong, relevant backlink profiles AI isn't replacing SEO. It's amplifying the importance of doing it right. What changes are you seeing in your SEO efforts? #SEO #AIinMarketing
