You must be able to know when it’s time to ask someone for help. 2. Even the worst day cannot last more than 24 hours. 3. Advertising is not for real. No product will make one’s life perfect or guarantee happiness. The only one who can decide on what makes you happy is YOU. 4. Every word we speak affects others. With unkind words, less is more. With uplifting words, more is more. 5. You’re writing your own story every day. How do you want to be remembered? 6. Hand-write thank you notes. This gesture means you appreciate the person enough to sit down and write. 7. Look at the bright light. Squint if needed. 8. Always be connected with your life’s purpose, it’s usually one that makes you feel blissfully alive. 9. Make sure you’re never the reason someone feels bad. 10. Hang in there. Instead, we've embraced what we call "𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜." It started innocently enough after missing the mark years ago. I could tell my wife didn't love what I picked out so the next year I was ready & said early. I want to make sure your "big gift" is special this year so why don't you pick it out & I will get it & wrap it for you so you get exactly what you want. She did and guess what happened? 𝙎𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙤𝙩 𝙀𝙭𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙎𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙙! Why hadn't we thought of this sooner? That one gift grew to almost every gift over the years & now our December group chat includes screenshots of exact items, complete with color preferences, size specifications, & links to purchase. Some might say we've lost the element of surprise, but we've gained something better: the joy of giving each other exactly what makes our eyes light up. This Christmas we'll sit & exchange perfectly selected gifts, knowing the real magic isn't in the surprise – it's in the love behind listening to what your partner truly wants. Today is my 8th wedding #anniversary 💃 Here are the top 5 things my husband and I do WRONG all the time❗ -Arguing when we feel overwhelmed by life, instead of taking a moment to take stock and chart a path forward. -Fixating on everyday annoyances (There's more laundry! It's Spirit Week at school!) vs. counting our blessings (our jobs, home, family, friends ... ) -Using TV as weeknight together time. It's one thing to bond and cuddle over a bingeable show, but it's another to use it as an avoidance tactic for doing something better. When we do things like work on a puzzle or concoct a new cocktail, we feel way more connected. -Focusing on what we deem as a slight instead of recognizing the small acts of love that mean so much more. For example, I didn't get flowers this Valentine's Day (I was annoyed), but how many other husbands make their wives coffee when they're stuck on work calls? ☕ > 🥀 -Making work out of fun. Planning date nights or time with friends takes effort when you all have busy lives, but getting caught up in the logistics can overshadow the purpose. This year, we're working on laughing more and complaining less. Which frankly, any of us can work on whether we're married or not! What anniversary will you celebrate next? Today is my first grandchild Jacob’s birthday- Happy Birthday, Jacob! 🎉 My youngest grandson is 3, and I’m lucky enough to see him every week.
