This Veterans Day, we were honored to recognize the sacrifices and bravery of Touchmark residents who served our country. In addition to meaningful ceremonies held across all Touchmark communities, highlights included special events at Touchmark at Coffee Creek and Touchmark on South Hill, as well as heartfelt cards hand-delivered by Eagles Elementary students to the veterans of Touchmark on Harwood Groves. These moments remind us of the importance of honoring our veterans' legacies and fostering intergenerational connections. Thank you to KOCO News, KHQ, and Valley News Live for sharing these touching celebrations. https://lnkd.in/gcrD4ZYG https://lnkd.in/gcRBdV37 https://lnkd.in/gdUhbcKw

The Mission First Mindset Often Kills Them I am riding a backroads route of 10,000 miles, 10 days, Florida to Alaska, with no electronic navigation, and no interstates, and will sleep outside with my motorcycle the entire route. I dedicate this challenge to HunterSeven Foundation and all our servicemembers and veterans who embody the mission-first mindset. Hoka Hey Motorcycle challenge was built on a vision. That vision was: One Thousand combat-ready warriors mounted on 1,000 battle-hardened horses charging into the mist, not knowing what lay ahead. Regardless of that uncertainty, they charge forward knowing hard sacrifices would be required... This describes how the American Servicemembers live their lives. American Servicemembers place the needs of their comrades, their mission, and their country above their welfare and needs. That's just what they do. Unfortunately, the mission first mindset often comes with a physical cost and sometimes death. HunterSeven Foundation is addressing this by fighting for active duty and post-9/11 veterans. HunterSeven Foundation is helping them fight their battles against cancer. Join us in our fight. #huntersevenfoundation

Today marks the 95th birthday of our favorite fictional sailor, “Popeye® The Sailor Man!” With that being said, it seems like a great day to celebrate the service of a man who spent his military duty in the United States Marine Corps (part of the department of The US Navy). All jokes aside, Salvatore Prato joined me on this week’s episode to share his story about becoming a firefighter and an entrepreneur. Enjoy! #usmc #popeyethesailormanday #militarytransition https://lnkd.in/gVjQU39P

Local Hero, National Bravery: The Story of Hiram W. Purcell and the Medal of Honor Growing up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Civil War history wasn't just in textbooks; it was woven into the fabric of our community. Monuments dotted the landscape, silent testaments to the sacrifices made generations before. One name that resonated with me was Hiram W. Purcell, a local boy who earned the highest military honor – the Medal of Honor. Hiram, born in 1837 in Upper Black Eddy, wasn't just a name on a plaque. He was a young man, not much older than I was when I first learned about him, who volunteered with the 104th Pennsylvania Infantry during the Civil War. In 1862, at the Battle of Fair Oaks, Virginia, Hiram found himself in the midst of a fierce battle. As his regiment retreated, entrusted with carrying the colors, he displayed courage that transcended the chaos. Facing the advancing enemy, a decision had to be made in a split second. Hiram, instead of continuing the retreat, turned back into the fray. His singular focus – to save the other regimental flag from capture. This act of selfless bravery, under heavy fire, stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication to duty and his comrades. Hiram's heroism wasn't recognized immediately. It wasn't until 1894, over 30 years later, that he received the Medal of Honor. Though delayed, the recognition solidified his place among the nation's bravest. Hiram W. Purcell's story is a reminder that heroism can emerge from the most ordinary people. It's a call to courage that echoes through the ages, inspiring us to stand tall in the face of adversity. #HiramWPurcell #MedalofHonor #CivilWarHero #BucksCounty #LocalHistory #AmericanValor

As we go through life, we learn that it's not about the quantity of friends we have, but the quality. It's been said that you can count your true friends on one hand, and knowing who those people are is essential. We all know people who claim to have countless close friends, but in reality, they only have acquaintances. It's important not to chase away those who truly love us. Cherish the relationships that matter and hold onto them tightly. #TrueFriends #QualityOverQuantity #CherishRelationships
Good morning blessings to you, family, and friends. Lord thank you for including me on your wake up list. Thank you Lord for teaching me to be a good steward. Matthew 25:29 For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. #WeArePR #RISETOGRACE #HUMANSHELPINGHUMANS #SAVEOURYOURTH #BREAKINGBARRIERS God owns the earth, and we are the stewards of everything He has given us. Our family, gifts, finances—even our energy and time are to be stewarded under God’s leadership! Today, choose to be a good steward of what He’s given you. What is given can be taken away! Have you managed what you have the right way? Or have you been using what’s been given for your gain instead of the Kingdom? Rise To Grace....United States Marine Corps The Veterans Club
