Education and Diversity are the key pillars
The 36th meeting of the CAP-CSA welcomed more than 130 delegates from 25 countries and territories. All Members were provided with a comprehensive overview of UN Tourism’s work and achievements since the last meeting, with key priorities then presented for the years ahead. UN Tourism Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili said: “As our data shows, tourism’s recovery is close to complete here in #Asia and Pacific. We worked together to face the crisis head on. And now we must work together to focus on our priorities for the future. That means supporting #education, driving investments into our sector and further strengthening the ties between public and private to build resilience and advance sustainability and inclusive growth.” https://lnkd.in/dxsgDjYT. #tourism #Tourisminsights #pakistan #tourismindustry #AtharJ #ecotourism #sustainabletourism #sustainability #sustainabledevelopment #tourismmarketing #60seconds

Tourism as a Tool for Peace and Global Understanding... On International Tourism Day, we celebrate tourism as more than just an economic driver—it's a powerful force for peace and cultural diplomacy. By connecting people from diverse backgrounds, tourism promotes mutual respect, breaks down cultural barriers, and fosters global understanding. From Rwanda's ecotourism driving social cohesion post-genocide, to Colombia and Cambodia rebuilding their global images through transformational tourism, destinations around the world have used tourism to heal, educate, and promote peace. Tourism opens informal channels for cultural exchange, from sports events and educational travel to gastronomic tours, making it a vital bridge between nations. #InternationalTourismDay #CulturalDiplomacy #TourismForPeace

It's World Tourism Day 2024 + this year's theme is 'Tourism & Peace.' Indeed, travel and tourism broadens perspective while providing a fertile ground for understanding and tolerance, key tenets of peace, to flourish. While, tourism and peace intersect in meaningful ways as tourism can be both a tool for fostering peace and a sector highly dependent on peaceful conditions. You see, peace is essential for tourism to flourish, while tourism can be a powerful tool in promoting peace through economic growth, cultural exchange, and global diplomacy. However, critical to the practice of tourism and ensuring that it contributes to peace is thoughtful, responsible and sustainable management to avoid inequalities, tensions, marginalisation and the destruction of environment and culture.
