Let’s talk about the integral part compounding pharmacists play in a day like today, #WorldMenopauseDay. Women experiencing post-menopause with negative urine cultures are often over treated with antibiotics when they complain about burning with urination. They find themselves frustrated with a lack of resolution, and the disruption to their lives continues. Due to the androgen receptors in the urethra, the decreased hormone state can lead to the sensation of burning with urination. Using a compounded estrogen with testosterone cream can address both the symptoms of genitourinary symptoms of menopause and dysuria. This is something only your compounding specialist would be able to create.

🌸While menopause is a natural transition, experiencing it prematurely may signal other underlying causes. Sometimes medications, autoimmune diseases, or genetic factors can play a role. Treatments like chemotherapy can also cause cycles to stop earlier than expected. If you're noticing signs of early menopause, it's essential to get a workup to rule out any other causes and guide your care. Have you or someone you know experienced this? Let’s talk about it. 💬 #DrSkeete #WomensHealth #FortLauderdaleOBGYN #OBGYN #PrematureMenopause #WomensHealth

The wounds appeared to heal faster (for both men and women). Oestrogen is anti-inflammatory, so it reduces the inflammatory cells that break tissue down. It also helps stimulate new blood vessels and also stimulates collagen production. There is actually a company in the USA that has developed an oestrogen face cream (on prescription). Endometriosis isn’t typically associated with, or regularly studied in, postmenopausal women. Still, a small percentage of women suffer from the condition after menopause, negatively impacting their quality of life and posing the risk of malignancies from endometrial lesions. Symptoms of endometriosis in postmenopausal patients are diverse and often difficult to pinpoint: ovarian cysts, pelvic pain, nausea, diarrhoea, digestive pain, and constipation. Some endometriosis symptoms can be labelled as common menopause symptoms, such as hot flashes. In some cases, there may be no symptoms at all. "It feels so wrong to take so many tablets in one go" I want to be very clear here, there are times when allopathic medicine is essential. I take antibiotics when absolutely necessary. If I was in an emergency situation, I would definitely be calling for an ambulance. But for a chronic illness where you don't know what's going on, it feels wrong because it is wrong. I saw this quote earlier and my heart broke. There is so much more that can be done to support health if we take the time to understand the patient in front of us. I love functional medicine as it takes a system biology approach.... what are the biochemical processes going on? How are they going wrong? And what interventions can we make to encourage them to fix themselves. Yes, that may include herbal medicine, supplements and lots of lifestyle medicine but it won't be a handful of steroids to mask what's going on..... and potentially add additional complications. #herbalmedicine #functionalmedicine ##womenshealth #menopause #lifestylemedicine ##womenleaders
