"Today in tomorrow's research" by Elsevier at Shivnadar University (September 25, 2024) Greater Noida On September 25, I had the opportunity to attend the much awaited session 'Tomorrow Today in Research' at Shivnadar International University. The focus of this session was of particular interest: how to benefit from cutting-edge research to increase university rankings. This is a relevant topic not only for students and faculty but also university administrators. The session began with in-depth presentations from senior academic leaders who shared data and case studies from leading organizations around the world. They analyze complex methods at QS, THE and other organizations. Used to rank universities Explaining that the research results in international cooperation And how does innovation play a key role in these rankings? It is amazing to see small improvements in specific areas, such as increased citations and research funding. The key point for me was to understand the importance of publishing in high impact journals. and how interdisciplinary collaborative projects can increase the visibility of university research. The session also highlighted the role of student participation in research. It is emphasized that student participation in innovative projects not only enhances their learning experience; But it also enhances the university's academic reputation. During the interactive question and answer session We discussed practical strategies that universities like ours can use to strengthen their research profiles. It was a long duration workshop but definitely worth it as from a networking point of view we got to connect great professionals from our fields Director IQAC Amity,Associate Dean SRM University and Professionals from SCIVAL and many more amazing souls working in India and abroad.Pro Vice Chancellor VIT Vellore further discussed during lunch break about the magic of collaborating for having our presence globally which is something which will remain with me for my entire life.Thereby even the working hours were extended but they were worth of. Thanks to Shiv Nadar University for hosting the event well. Gratitude towards the MRIIRS senior team officials for extending this opportunity to me and other colleagues.#MRIIRS #ProfessorLife

Commercialising of academic research is still in nascent stages in India -- less than 1% of the 40,000-odd educational institutes in the country invest in deep research. But with proper innovation, a boom might not be too far away. Funds, then, will follow, and so will jobs in the segment. Here's what #WadhwaniFoundation , #AICTE Chairman and #IIT Directors have to say on the subject. https://lnkd.in/g24MrEFA

Globally, universities focus on open-ended research, while government labs prioritise mission-driven projects. However, in India, government funding for university research (only 10% of the total) is significantly lower than for labs, limiting India's ability for groundbreaking discoveries. Over the past 50 years, it's become clear that higher education institutions are vital for disruptive S&T discoveries. They must compete for resources and strive for excellence to make an impact globally. With strategic interventions, we believe Indian institutions can rise to the challenge in the next decade.
