When we opened our US factory in Dayton, Tennessee a team of experienced Nokian Tyres tire experts trained the new team members onsite. One of these trainers is Senior Production Operator Marko Äijälä. Now Marko is facing new challenges, as he is leaving the US for Romania and helping the recruits at our new factory in Oradea at the start of their Nokian Tyres journey. One of the most important tasks is making sure the work culture is similar throughout the company: "What I appreciate about the Finnish work culture is that it is very democratic, and you can say things the way they are without sugarcoating. As we move into November, it marks the end of Tyre Safety month from TyreSafe Admin. West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has been carrying out tyre safe checks, to raise awareness with drivers of the need to look after their tyres. In the two weekends we were able to support, we: • Saw 7️⃣4️⃣ cars. • Tested 2️⃣9️⃣6️⃣ tyres. ⚠️ • Found 4️⃣2️⃣ tyres to have low pressure, some clearly with slow punctures. ⚠️ • Checked 1️⃣6️⃣ tyres with illegal tread below the 1.6mm minimum depth. ⚠️ • Discovered 8️⃣ tyres in poor condition, with defects, cuts or cracking. While this is a small sample, it just shows that there is a real need for motorists to check their tyres. It will help them stay safe on the roads, reduce their fuel costs and tyre wear. Plus, as winter approaches, driving is going to become more difficult. The roads are going to become wetter and more slippery and now the clocks have gone back ,we will be driving a lot more at night with reduced visibility. Make sure your tyres are ready.
