Congratulations to Clint on his much-deserved retirement. Today has made me reflect: I’ve known Clint since I was a young boy. He reminds me of when I used to get sent out with the crews for acting up in school to show me what real hard work looked like. For those of us in the skilled labor business, his departure represents a loss of invaluable knowledge and dedication that cannot be replaced. A few key points to take from days like today: 1. Learn from Senior Personnel: Engage with those who have experience and soak up as much knowledge as you can. Don’t let your ego get in the way. 2. It's More Than Just a Job: Treat people with humanity, and you’ll be able to support your team beyond the office. Sometime each other is all you have. 3. Invest in Training: emphasis younger personnel through skilled mentors. There is no better way to learn. 4. Provide opportunities for Young People: High school graduates should be eager to embrace skilled trades. They can secure good livelihoods with benefits for their families. While tools may evolve, foundational skills remain essential and the rate for skilled labor is better than what many realize. 5. Support the Industry: Encourage newcomers, even if they join your competitors. Elevating the quality and importance of our skills benefits everyone. And the most important: 6. Promote safety and healthy habits. It’s crucial to foster a healthy lifestyle and prioritize safety to ensure employees enjoy life after retirement. Interestingly, 70% of Americans plan on going on vacation this year, but less than 50% have started saving for retirement -- a much longer, more impactful "vacation". Enjoy a short retirement

Whew! It's been an incredible last few days for a couple of reasons. 1. I had my military retirement ceremony and party....even though I'm a few months out from actual retirement. Based on the pending holiday season, all the PTO (leave) I need to take, and the family visits back in my home state, and VA appointments all coming up in the next 100 days, I figured I'd get the formalities of retiring out of the way. 2. I had a major breakthrough on a communication efficiency formula I've been working on for over a year. And it will make an appearance in my next book...which is currently ahead of schedule on the writing phase. 3. I filed a copyright request with the US Copyright Office for said formula. Will see how that process goes, but it's really invigorating to try new things. Next steps...get through the VA filing process and take a break to enjoy life more intentionally. #projectplanning #militarytransition #goals

Retirement [ ⛳ 🎣 🧓 ] is a really bad idea. I don't recommend it. I get it. Your entire life society has glorified the concept of "retirement" and one day taking it easy. But think about that word RETIREMENT for a moment. What else do we retire? - Race horses 🏇 - Battleships ⚓ - Factory equipment 🏭 We retire things when they are used up. We put them out to pasture when they are no longer useful. How appealing does that sound when applied to your life? Are you done being useful? I highly doubt it. You don't have to die at your desk, but you can build a life you never want to retire from.
