Singapore's trade minister acknowledges significant uncertainties in the technical and commercial aspects of the hydrogen economy, leading the country to take a cautious stance on scaling up hydrogen adoption. Despite recent milestones like refueling a ship with green hydrogen-powered ammonia, Singapore has no immediate plans for large-scale infrastructure investments in hydrogen pipelines or storage facilities. Instead, the focus remains on maritime imports of hydrogen derivatives, with plans to use ammonia in power plants and trial ammonia bunkering.
