As National Road Safety Week draws to a close, let's remember that road safety isn't just for the week—it's for life. Whether you're behind the wheel or crossing the street, staying safe on the roads is a commitment we make every day. Here are some important reminders as we wrap up the week: - Slow down around school and work zones. Let's protect our most vulnerable road users. - Obey the cones and road signs. They're there for a reason—to keep everyone safe. - Find a sober bob or arrange alternative transportation if you've been drinking. Your safety—and the safety of others—depends on it. - Belt up every time you get in the car. Seatbelts save lives. - And remember, it's not just about looking after yourself—it's about looking out for other road users too. Let's continue to drive safely, responsibly, and with care for each other. Together, we can make our roads safer for everyone, not just during National Road Safety Week, but every day. 🚦 National Road Safety Week Begins This Sunday!🚦 This Sunday marks the beginning of National Road Safety Week, an important initiative dedicated to enhancing safety on our roads. Each year, tragic road incidents claim approximately 1,200 lives and result in another 40,000 serious injuries across Australia. From May 5th to 12th, we join hands to raise awareness and take action. ✅ Why It Matters: The statistics are more than numbers—they represent families, friends, and community members. This week, we reflect on our driving habits, commit to safer behaviors, and honor those we have lost. ✅ What You Can Do: - Pledge to Drive Safely: Commit to always driving attentively and within speed limits. - Spread the Word: Share road safety tips and stories on social media to raise awareness. - Participate in Events: Engage with local National Road Safety Week events and initiatives. LGC Traffic Management is proud to support National Road Safety Week. Together, we can make a significant impact in reducing road trauma and making our roads safer for everyone. 👍 Let’s make a difference, one safe driving decision at a time. 🚦 Road Safety Week: Super Bob’s Call to Action 🚦 This Road Safety Week, Super Bob is here to remind us that we all have a role to play in keeping our roads safe—whether we’re behind the wheel, on a bike, or walking. This year, we’ve delivered over 300 road safety packs to workplaces, schools, and communities, spreading life-saving advice and tools. But it takes more than resources—it takes action. Here’s what Super Bob wants every adult to remember: 1️⃣ Stop rushing. Speed limits aren’t targets—they’re maximums. 2️⃣ Look out for others. Vulnerable road users like cyclists and pedestrians depend on your awareness. 3️⃣ Listen to reason. Distractions—phones, multitasking—can wait. Safety can’t. Every safe choice we make adds up. Let’s work together to reduce road accidents and make our streets safer for everyone. #RoadSafetyWeek #StaySafe #DriveResponsibly #SuperBobSaves

This week is we are stepping away from data to ask a question. Did you know that it is 'Road Safety Week' according to Days of the Year Website. A very interesting website, seeing what might be happening around the world and where the ideas have originated from. Road Safety is a big concern for all and one we really should take more notice of for everyone that uses the roads. Taking a little bit more time to make sure the coast is clear at junctions and that we are driving at s safe speed is something that we can all do. Giving the cyclist as much room as possible when you are over taking, can save you both from a very serious accident, as they may have to pull out suddenly for drains, pot holes, car doors or even pedestrian's stepping out. With so much going on in the world it is always good to take a minute and remind ourselves of the basics and enjoy the world safely. Be safe and have a great weekend. https://lnkd.in/ehaBcEGR

This Road Safety Week, we emphasise the importance of vigilance, especially at railway crossings and infrastructure that intersects with our roads. Each year, countless accidents occur due to a lack of awareness at these critical points. Stay Alert: Always be vigilant when approaching crossings, whether you’re driving or walking. Remember to look both ways and listen for oncoming vehicles or trains. Your safety—and the safety of others—depends on your awareness and actions. At McGinley, we recognise the significance of safe infrastructure and encourage everyone to take personal responsibility for their safety. Let’s work together to promote safe practices and protect our communities. Stay safe, stay alert, and let’s make our roads safer for everyone. Stay updated with our McGinley News this week: https://lnkd.in/eJTQXXHJ #RoadSafetyWeek #StayAlert #SafetyFirst #McGinley

🗣️#Language matters, especially when discussing #roadsafety. Even in the #Netherlands, this can be a challenge. For example, roughly half of elementary students spend an hour per week on materials from the Veilig Verkeer Nederland that focuses on normalizing danger, rather than instructing students and parents on why such danger exists and how to fix it. 🛑🚙😫Here and in other countries, particularly those in North America, efforts to reduce road danger is presented as taking away privileges from car drivers, instead of giving back the right to so many others, such as those #walking or on #bikes and other #micromobility, to be able to use roads safely. 🤨Consider how crashes are reported on #radio stations. Instead of reporting them as mere impediments to #travel, shouldn’t they be discussed the same way as any other violent incident, especially when people are harmed? As our own Marco Te Brömmelstroet notes: “If most radio stations now spend 1 minute per half hour to update us all on congestion, this means that we can start by repurposing these 350 minutes every week to have a more meaningful discussion.” (khp) https://lnkd.in/eP2tQEft

Road Safety Week starts today! This year road safety week is more important than ever. We need to be talking about safety, about what works and what the evidence shows. On complex issues it’s very important that people have the chance to have conversations with people they trust. I’ve often been asked for a ‘cheat sheet’ of key facts to help have a road safety conversation. Here's one for Auckland: · Road safety is multifaceted so the response needs to be multifaceted. That’s what the Safe System approach is, an evidence-based response to road safety that works on all parts of the system. · Education and enforcement alone won’t address road trauma, we also need to address road design, speed and vehicle safety. · Most (89%) of road trauma in Auckland happens on local roads. · Most (70%) of road trauma in Auckland happens on urban roads. · More than half of road trauma in Auckland is experienced by people outside of vehicles. · The speed of a vehicle is always a factor in the outcome of a crash. · Two thirds of fatal and serious crashes do not involve reckless behaviour. Road safety week is an opening to talk about road safety and recognise too many people are still being harmed on our roads. You can be part of the solution by having an evidence-based road safety conversation. Now more than ever it is important to keep talking about safety and aiming for our targets. The only way road harm can be sorted is when people choose to keep striving and making a sustained effort even when the going gets tough, that’s what it means to be a road safety hero. #RoadSafety
