This Thanksgiving, we reflect with gratitude on the loved ones who enriched our lives, even if only for a short time. Their love and legacy live on in the hearts of those they touched. We are also incredibly grateful for the generosity of those who make TAPS’ work possible. Your support allows us to provide compassionate care 24/7 to those grieving. 💫Respecting your parents is one of the most important values you can have in life. Your parents are the ones who brought you into this world, raised you, and sacrificed so much for you. They are the ones who taught you right from wrong, supported you through thick and thin, and loved you unconditionally. ⏩Respecting your parents doesn't just mean obeying them or doing what they say. It means showing appreciation for everything they do for you, listening to their advice, and valuing their opinion. It means being grateful for the sacrifices they made for you and recognizing the love and care they have shown you. ⏩When you respect your parents, you are not only showing them that you care, but you are also setting a good example for your own children and others around you. You are showing that you value family, tradition, and the importance of respecting those who came before you. ⏩So, take the time to thank your parents, listen to their stories, and show them that you care. Remember, respecting your parents is not just a duty, it's a privilege. #RespectYourParents #FamilyValues #Gratitude #Love #Appreciation #ThankYouMomAndDad #FamilyFirst #Tradition #Respect #HonorYourParents #FamilyGoals #ParentingTips #Respect #GratitudeAttitude #LoveAndAppreciation #FamilyMatters #TraditionAndCulture #HonorYourParents #FamilyValuesMatter

A season to serve, and a season to be served - which is it for you? This week many of us will be serving each other dinner. While bringing the mashed potatoes isn’t exactly walking in Mother Theresa’s shoes, it’s important not to minimize any act of service. When we think of others beyond ourselves, we bless them. And, in an ironically selfish way, we bless ourselves. Most churches encourage service - even Alcoholics Anonymous bakes it into its recovery program - because we, as humans, are naturally self-centered. When we extend beyond ourselves, we gain perspective, gratitude, and we help others. In my practice, though, I see service go south. People overextend themselves, or neglect their own family members, just to fulfill service obligations. Their self-worth is tied up in serving, and receiving service feels weak and insufficient. There is a season to serve and to be served. We cannot pour from empty vessels. How do we give others a chance to serve if we do not accept service at times? This takes humility and grace. Service should extend outward - fill the self first (spiritually, physically, emotionally), then the family, then move outwards towards others. I have seen frequent examples of people whose service is having the opposite effect on others (and themselves) because they are unwell themselves. Sometimes, it is your season to receive. Allowing others to serve us is a gift. If we enjoy serving, why wouldn’t we bless others by letting them serve us? This recipe of giving and receiving will bless you and others for a lifetime. Now, please pass the mashed potatoes. #fillyourvessel #gratitude #findjoy #heal #nurtureyourself #SelfCareFirst #copingskills #equip #mentalhealth #harttbarn #harttcoaching #Thanksgiving #service

A great article that explores the practical question of how, when, and WHY to give to neighbors in our day-to-day lives.
"I came to the YMCA to do a good deed: a clean, convenient one, unattached to human hands and faces. But I see now that God has invited me to something different." One giver shares her story of "foolish generosity," in which she ponders the question, "When someone asks me for money, should I give?" #generosity #giving #giveback

Material things come and go. Money can buy anything, except being memorable. Acts of kindness that impact directly the life or emotional state of someone in times of need and struggle, is what really makes you memorable and unforgettable. Just being listened to, receive words of encouragement and support genuinely is enough. We will not be remembered by how much we gave rather how present we were. #mindsetforsuccess #mindsetmatters #mindsetforgrowth

Random acts of kindness. They make you feel incredible. There is not a better feeling of helping others when they are down. It makes the person who receives them, feel even better. The joy it brings you is immeasurable and invaluable. Usually, random acts of kindness cost you very little if anything to do. The act of kindness can take any form. It can mean so much for the recipient. A lot of people are suffering and need a boost. Your act of kindness could change their outlook. It could bring them hope when they have little. In could restore their faith in humanity and decency. Over the past 2 years I have had more than 1000 unpaid consulting calls. A few weeks ago, I had a complimentary call at 5:30am with a young woman of color, making $50k and was being mistreated and discriminated at work. She had no one to talk to and was traumatized at the wrongful and illegal treatment she experienced. The genuine appreciation and gratitude I received literally made my entire day. I felt great the entire day. I thought back on that call at least a half dozen times. Happy and proud how 5 minutes of my time can so positively impact someone. Helping people when they need it most. Giving > Taking Helping > Harming What acts of kindness did you do this week? How have you helped others recently? Don't be humble, please share. Maybe it will inspire others to as well.

Why is writing a sympathy card so incredibly difficult? Maybe because there are no words that can erase the anguish of those dealing with loss and grief. That being said, receiving a card lets those who are hurting know that others are thinking of them. It gives them comfort and makes them feel a little less alone. Here are a few tips from What's Your Grief (Tag on FB and IG) on how to write a sympathy card. ✏️Pick a simple card and keep the recipient in mind. ✏️ Handwrite your message. ✏️ Share a special memory or something you appreciated about the person who died. ✏️ Offer a specific show of support. 💡💡💡 Consider sending a one-year anniversary card to show you remember and acknowledge their loved one and the significance of the date. For more specifics on writing sympathy cards, read the What’s Your Grief article: https://lnkd.in/ecZ4rnkX
