Hey everyone! Today I'm diving into some awesome research on effective teaching principles from a booklet titled "Teaching" by the International Bureau of Education (IBE), which outlines key principles supported by research to enhance student learning. Here are some key takeaways that resonated with me: ◾Positive Classroom Climate: Cultivate a caring and respectful environment where students feel safe to participate and take risks. ◾Maximize Learning Time: Focus classroom activities on student learning and minimize non-academic distractions. ◾Curricular Alignment: Ensure all curriculum components (goals, content, activities, assessments) work together to achieve learning objectives. ◾Set Learning Goals and Context: Begin lessons by providing an overview of what will be learned and its significance, helping students connect new knowledge to existing understanding. ◾Present Clear and Coherent Content: Deliver information in an understandable way, highlighting connections between different ideas. ◾Encourage Thoughtful Discourse: Foster discussions where students talk to each other about the material, deepening understanding and developing critical thinking skills. ◾Practice and Application: Provide opportunities for students to practice what they learn and apply it to new situations, demonstrating its real-world relevance. ◾Scaffolding Student Engagement: Offer support tailored to student needs to ensure successful task completion, gradually reducing this support as students gain proficiency. ◾Teach Learning Strategies: Equip students with specific strategies to become more independent learners. ◾Cooperative Learning: Incorporate group work activities to foster social skills and encourage students to learn from each other. ◾Goal-Oriented Assessment: Utilize assessments to measure student learning, using the results to refine and improve teaching methods. ◾High Achievement Expectations: Hold high expectations for all students, believing in their potential to achieve their full capabilities. These are just a few of the many insights from the IBE. I highly recommend the full document for a comprehensive look at effective teaching practices! https://lnkd.in/dRtnmzBG #education #teaching #learning #ibe P.S. What are your favorite strategies for creating a successful learning environment?

April 17, 2024 Why I Chose Teaching as My Career I have always had a passion for learning and sharing knowledge with others. It has always been a fulfilling experience for me to see someone grasp a concept or skill that I have taught them. This sense of fulfillment is what ultimately led me to choose a career in teaching. While I am not a BS Education graduate, I have always had a natural inclination towards teaching. I had taken education units and even went as far as passing the Licensure Board Exam , and finished Masters in Education to further hone my skills and knowledge in this field. I believe that teaching is not just a profession, but a calling that requires dedication, patience, and a genuine desire to help others learn and grow. One of the main reasons I became a teacher is the joy that comes from seeing my students succeed. Whether it's helping a struggling student finally understand a difficult concept or watching a group of students excel in a project they have worked hard on, the feeling of pride and satisfaction that comes from knowing I have made a positive impact on their lives is truly priceless. Being a teacher also allows me to make a difference in the world by shaping the minds and hearts of the next generation. I believe that education is the key to unlocking a person's full potential and empowering them to achieve their dreams. By being a teacher, I have the opportunity to inspire and motivate my students to reach for the stars and strive for excellence in everything they do. Teaching is not always easy, and there are days when I face challenges and setbacks. But it is the moments of triumph and growth that make it all worthwhile. The relationships I build with my students, the lessons I impart, and the impact I have on their lives are what drive me to continue pursuing my passion for teaching. In the end, I became a teacher because I believe in the power of education to transform lives and make the world a better place. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my knowledge, skills, and experiences with my students, and to witness the amazing journey of learning and growth that we embark on together. Being a teacher is not just a job for me, it is a vocation that fills my heart with joy and purpose every day. Thank you LSVMS for giving me the chance to serve you for 33 years already. #education #highlightseveryone #teacherlife #education #EducationMatters

🌟Ever had someone copy your homework because it was just that good? 😅 Well, that’s pretty much what happened to us. We’ve always prided ourselves on our top-notch study materials, but nothing validates quality quite like someone else using it to kickstart their own gig! Meet Chatur Ramalingam (not his real name, but you get the gist). He breezed through the DAVSC exam with our training and study materials, singing praises all the way. So much so, we even roped him in as a trainer for few of our batches! But here’s where it gets interesting—Chatur took our study materials and went rogue! He started his own training institute using the very resources we provided. A real-life plot twist, right? 🤯 Now, you might think we’d be upset. But honestly, we’re flattered. If our study materials are good enough to launch a competitor, they’re good enough to guarantee your success. So, if you’re looking for study materials that are so effective even our competitors can't resist them, you know where to come. Trust the process, trust ProThoughts. Ready to ace your exams and maybe even start your own training empire? 😉 #ProjectManagement #ProThoughts #StudyMaterials #SuccessStory #Training

🔍 Competency-Based Learning and Interdisciplinary Education 🔍 Competency-Based Learning (CBL) promotes interdisciplinary education by encouraging students to apply skills and knowledge across different subjects. This holistic approach helps students understand complex concepts and see the connections between various fields of study. We'll explore how interdisciplinary projects, thematic units, and cross-curricular activities can be integrated into CBL to create rich, interconnected learning experiences. #InterdisciplinaryEducation #CompetencyBasedLearning #HolisticLearning #CrossDisciplinary #MasteryTranscriptConsortium #SkillsForTheFuture

First #PractitionerEnquiryTotW repost of Day 1 of the 5 days of Practitioner Enquiry: Learning from challenge (from this time last year). Repost/like if this strikes a cord and is useful to beat the algorithm (although bear with me as its not the easiest to transfer from bird site) Practitioner Enquiry Tip of the Week: Learning from challenge in prof learning. We are confident that appropriate levels of challenge are fundamental in facilitating children and young people's learning, but what about in our practitioner enquiries? /1 #PractitionerEnquiryTotW There are a number of aspects to this that we can reflect on: 1 How often do you say 'I don't know'? 2 How do you deal with things not going to plan? 3 What do you do with the unexpected? 4 How do you cope with finding out you were incorrect? 5 What happens when you disagree? /2 1, the premise of practitioner enquiry is a questioning, skeptical stance. It is all about admitting what you're not sure about and what you've genuine questions about. To only focus on what you already know stops the process being useful. We need to normalise not knowing /3 2, teachers are good at dealing with not going to plan in class, but how does that manifest in prof learning, in research or in own learning? Do you embrace it? Do you share mistakes and failed avenues of enquiry? If you're genuinely learning about enquiry, mistakes will happen/4 3, Classrooms are complex but with genuine questions, despite best prof predictions, are you truly ready to be surprised? To find the unexpected? To change direction completely based on results? Are you ready to hear that someone else has found out something different to you? /5 4. A genuine finding out process can sometimes lead to you finding out that you were wrong. The thing doesn't work the way you thought, that learning isn't universally liked, or even that the impact is negative. How will you deal with that? Are you still ready to share? /6 5. If you're enquiring alongside colleagues then they might explore that thing in a different way to you, ask a question emphasising a different aspect or outcome? They might disagree with what you've done. How will your community deal with that difference and alternate opinion?/7 IMO theres strength in difference and learning comes from challenge. If enquiry is going to be authentic and useful then not knowing, difference, mistakes, and unexpected need to be embraced. We need to share these aspects, warts and all and not retro-fit an easy narrative /8
